I'm either misreading this current hockey twitter feud or its the dumbest in a while. Surely people are not actually demanding that everyday hockey writing needs scientific citation for loose concepts like "half a season played ~ established NHLer".

I think by the time Senyshyn, Lauzon and JFK are all up in the NHL, that trade is going to look fine. Of course it would already look amazing had they taken Barzal at #15 there. But I still think those 3 are all NHLers.

Obviously nobody is gonna really cry over Boeser or Chabot. On draft day those weren't screamingly obvious. If we did this to every team on every draft we could go nuts circling the guys passed on. It's also more than compensated with the likes of Pastrnak, Charlie Mac, Debrusk, Heinen, Carlo and on down the line. They've really smashed the drafts of late, so not gonna cry.

Really Hayes, Belesky, Seguin, Subban and others are far more obvious screw ups.

That said the team chemitry right now is through the roof. They finally found the sort of 4th line that makes everyone else want to try harder. Before it was olds just handed the jobs for being olds. Now they have 3 guys just busting their tails down there.

Scary thing is Sweeney has piles of dry powder for the deadline if he wants to use it (picks in almost every round and prospects). His trading track record is just so bad that I'm just not sure I want him to use it. But I figure as tough as this league is, when you get a shot you better stick your chips in the middle.

how was Chabot not obvious? the Bumz picked 13-15, and he went 18 after Barzal & Connor, who should have gone 11th & 12th at worst

and then like a year later Chabot was the MVP of the World Juniors? lol

Boeser was perhaps more well hidden, but the Bumz have gone the USA#1 route often enough that they probably should have been on him
