Re: NHL Regular Season 2017-2018 - Youth will be served
makes sense that the team who ended up taking Barzal also drafted Josh Ho-Sang, who dropped like 15 spots in the draft for having the audacity to be confident in his abilities
the NHL is so ****ing dum

Re: NHL Regular Season 2017-2018 - Youth will be served
A trade I would really love see happening is the Bruins swapping Spooner and Vatrano for Buchnevich. Could probably tinker on the side assets, but I think Spooner is regaining some of his trade value and he is just so god damn bad in his own zone that he will be get killed come playoffs time.

I don't think the Rangers would trade Buchnevich for players like that. They are mismanaging him (Vigneault has been mismanaging lineups for years but that's another story) but if the Rangers make a trade I think it'll look more like a young guy out / veteran in trade. They seem dead set on making every year a mortgage-the-future-for-longshot-Lundvist-Cup attempt.

Re: NHL Regular Season 2017-2018 - Youth will be served
you don't have to do much developing if you just take the best players
like BARZAL was DEVELOPED by playing 2 NHL games last season and 0 AHL games ever? lol

Barzal keeps being awesome and Mike Green reaching new levels of slow. The Isles version of S Aho looks good, very good decisions and passes with the puck.

your monthly reminder that the LOiLers could have a 2nd line of
LW - Hall (15g/42pts)
C - Barzal (13g/39pts)
RW - Eberle (14g/34pts)
if their GM wasn't a moran

I see no reason to denigrate Ian Moran’s name any further than his playing career did.

Isles actually traded:
Griffin Reinhardt, Ryan Strome, 3rd round pick
for their 2nd line of
Eberle - Barzal - Beauviller
LOiLers

Re: NHL Regular Season 2017-2018 - Youth will be served
In Las Vegas for a few nights and have had some small bets on hockey. Two nights ago I did a 3 team parlay and promptly went 0-3. Yesterday I did a 3-teamer with.
CGY over FLA
WPG vs CHI under 6
EDM -1.5 vs ARZ
Needless to say I was swearing at the loloilers early. The cover came with the empty netter with 20 seconds left. 1140% profit yo.

Slapshot to the head. He was awake and tried to get up at one time but they are probably concerned about any fractures at the head or neck so they didnt allow him to get up.

Kings/Ducks fights on 3 consecutive face-offs. Then Ducks twice throw elbows at someone's head. Something has to give.
Quick with 2 marshmallows.

If you can find 6-7 thousand fellow passionate fans of your team and hit Vegas, I highly recommend it. Tonight’s game was one of my favorite sporting events ever.

I pretty much don't watch hockey until the playoffs and only if the bruins are in it. Buddy and I flipped it over during halftime of the pats game last night. Lemme tell you, OT is the tits.

Re: NHL Regular Season 2017-2018 - Youth will be served
Thoughts on if the Leafs should entertain trading Matthews? I did not even think of it, maybe cuz they never would. But obv they should be considering it. And since there was a ****storm on even suggesting it could be considered, just shows how clueless a lot of punters are. But do you think that it ever has been even raised as a topic at Leafs HQ, maybe not?
What I heard from Volman he did not quite convince me, saying the Leafs have offensive talent even without him is kinda naive. It´s not like you can plug some rental in there, get more from other guys and not be a lot less competitive. Matthews can play big minutes against the best in the world, that cannot be understated. But, I still do think that they could come out net-positive if some team made an outrageous offer. Happy that Volman brought it up, and not surprised most who started to shout about it could not think it through (one bit).
And I guess it´s kinda standard now, but more and more convinced that teams should be going for it when they have the cheap years of young stars. "He will be in his prime in season 4, then we will go for it!" Yeah but then you might be paying 12mil and gl with that.

Re: NHL Regular Season 2017-2018 - Youth will be served
Why would they trade him? Does he want a max contract or something?
Def agree with going for it while elite young talent is on ELCs, but if you do it wrong you set yourself up for a super short window of contention.
