did the Sens really just have like a 25 minute pregame ceremony to commemorate how they almost made it to the SCF?

Niemi couldn't stop a beachball. 4-0 Hawks 10 minutes into the game.

Zamboni drivers happy return to Chicago. Pitt could win the cup without Letang. If they win it and Niemi plays +3 playoff games they have done it all.

turns out using Pyatt-Thompson-Wingels to protect a 3rd period lead vs 'chicken not such a great idea

Pretty good hockey moment in the Bruins game. The much second-guessed 1st rounder from 2015 (the year they did Senyshyn + Zboril + Debrusk over Barzal/Connor/Chabot) scored tonight since he made the team. His dad ex-nhler Louie Debrusk in attendance:

Kind of a nice moment

Kings look different. A lot less scrum along the walls. Actual offensive risks taken. Still only 1 goal.

My understanding is that VGK loaded up on Dmen in the expansion draft, thinking they'd be able to flip some out. There ended up being no market for these guys, and now that have too many D who have to (and won't) clear waivers if they try to send them down. From what I understand, all of their healthy scratches last night were defence.

Some quality GMing.

GMGM obv took all the QBs once in 2003 fantasy draft and his donk friends paid out the ass, so he thought it would work twice.

Not kidding

If no one is taking Marancin off waivers, why worry about VGK scrubs.

Re: NHL Regular Season 2017-2018 - Youth will be served

^ ya
for example:

Griffin Reinhart is a former #4 overall pick who at 23yo is already on his 3rd team
Brad Hunt is a 29yo 5'9" career AHLer
even if someone did take either, there's roughly a 100% chance you could get someone better on waivers later

the fact that they're temp-burying probably their #1C in Shipachyov and most promising dman in Theodore because they're afraid to lose these guys is seriously amazing

GMGM is ... wow

Re: NHL Regular Season 2017-2018 - Youth will be served

Ya I agree, no one is claiming Vegas scrubs off waivers. Those players might even have more trade value after they clear waivers so a team could trade for them, then send them down. GMGM is just a donk.

He could have actually built a solid team given the expansion draft rules(and I think the NHL wanted him to). I wonder how Bettman feels about his.

Also I wonder how Ship feels about being in the minors after willingly signing with Vegas. Looks like he's going to miss a second game tonight and maybe more because who knows WTF GMGM is doing/gonna do.

Re: NHL Regular Season 2017-2018 - Youth will be served

As long as NHL GMs continue to value their own filler scrubs about as much as other teams' middle sixers/pairing D-men, waivers are absolutely pointless.
