maybe the Blues should try not being basically the failingest bunch of failers ever one of these decades imo

Sure, that was stupid as well.

Idk mostly it annoys me that the Divisional system you're always gonna play the same teams pretty much. I'm bored by like game 4 of a playoff series because it's always the same opponent, don't need a system that limits possible opponents year to year.

Should be 1-8, 2-7, etc. by conference for the 1st round.
Then highest remaining seed plays lowest seed by conference for 2nd round.
Final 4 matchup by division winner and overall record regardless of conference. No one touches the Conference trophys anyway.

So 5 forwards and 2 D from the West. Anyone? Halp?

Was kind of tempted to take a bunch of Jets

under a 1-8 system:
(division winners would be 1/2 bc that's how they've always done it and probably always will, as divisions have to count for something)

Lightning vs Devils
Capitals vs Blue Jackets
Bruins vs Flyers
Maple Leafs vs Penguins

Predators vs Avalanche
Golden Knights vs Kings
Jets vs Sharks
Wild vs Ducks

so half the matchups are exactly the same, and the other ones kinda don't matter

like the Laffs wanna break the system so they get the Pens instead of Bumz? k
i guess the Wild & Bumz would be happier this way, but that's about it for meaningful differences

I rather play Toronto than Philly, but results of the standings are meaningless. It's Team X vs Team Y and division strength means NOTHING. 1-8 will come back soon.

Getting a higher seed vs a non-division winner isn't that big of an advantage, especially since home ice isn't that big a deal.

Depending on who you like one second round - something like Laine + Rackell.

Josi over PK?

I think Doughty, Burns or PK?

Or are you looking at what they will do in the playoffs?

My team isn't in so I have no real skin in the matchups this year.....so let me ask.

Is there any talk of them revisiting this putrid format in the offseason? I figure as a ranger fan I have at least two free years until I give a **** but i'd like it fixed.

Your welcome. It's what happens when you haven't been around for a while and are too lazy to use the search feature.

I hadn't realized that there was a similar bus accident with the Humboldt Broncos in 1986 that killed four people. I might of misheard it but they were talking about it on hockey central today.

The 1986 crash involved the Swift Current Broncos (of the WHL). Joe Sakic was among those that survived.

I set up a bracket challenge on nhl.com if anyone wants to enter. League is Two Plus Two. It's public so no password needed. Use your 2+2 username so we know who you are.

Well TB or bust. I actually think they are the best candidate for a first round upset but ymmv.

I haven't seen any official discussion, but my guess is that once Seattle enters the league and there are 8 teams in each division, they will make it so the top 4 teams of each division make the playoffs. No wildcards, no matches between divisions until the conference finals.
