The Oilers are going to be really good this year. People will credit McDavid, some Draisaitl, Klefbom development, etc. But just the lack of Hall and Eberle both is huge. People dont realize the impact of having players like that wearing an A has on the team as a whole. Tonight was the best defensive game the Oilers have played in a decade.

Strome sucks and he is a huge upgrade on Eberle already.

Was watching highlights (the NHL produces good highlight videos/game recaps again! Cool!) and the Oilers being the red-ish team in the BoA really threw me off.

Imo the Blues kick goal was the old "angling your skate" thing that they've been letting stand forever (right so imo), Def more puck to skate than skate to puck so to speak

Maurice will be out of a job soon, if you have sucha talented group as the Jets and they fail on special team and defense as a whole. It can't be too hard to look at other working pps in the league and spot some simliarities in personal and just copy it.

Nhl.com is still as bad as ever. wanted to watch a condensed game, had to endure theri commercial. Tried to login, wasn't able to because the login page simply didn't work.

another d1 observation was how bad both Letang & Burns were.

didn't realize how much Letang played (heard someone say ~25 minutes), but man was he trying to do way too much out there. was in FULL bad Pernell Karl mode, trying to skate circles around people instead of just making simple plays to wide open teammates. kept losing the puck and flaoting around in no-man's land, breaking their team structure. resulted in a couple goals at least. from that you can how they could be as good without him. on a team like that you don't need to be a hero. just make the smart plays and let the talent win out.

Burns was similar, playing in full dgaf mode. lots of sloppy passes and roving around in weird areas. i know he's kind of always like that, and part of that is what makes him good, but tone is down a bit. looked like a guy who completely bought his own Norris hype.

it's a tough league, even the best have to play with intensity and intelligence.
