Now they should do the smart thing and pawn Lundqvist off on some team that needs goaltending and hasn't been paying attention to Henrik's decline. It would be good to give him a retirement tour as a Ranger but business is business. And Igor is ready for the NHL.

Is there a team that moves down more in the lotto than Vancouver? Seems like they always run bad.

...But the reality is that Holland still enjoys being an NHL GM and if an opportunity presented itself to be a GM elsewhere, you never know. But it would have to be the perfect fit in terms of ownership, team, location, challenge etc.

sounds like the LOiLers might be going with that TML Hunter that all the media donks credit with anything good that's happened there, so gl with that

When can NHL change playoff format such that #1 seed gets to pick their opponent. Then next highest seed picks theirs, and so on. That would be the nuts.

Let's pretend that this was done this year, and that we keep east-west.

Tampa: maybe chooses Carolina over Columbus
Bruins: Chooses whichever one Tampa doesn't
Capitals: probably do take the Islanders
Leafs and Penguins final matchup.

Flames: I'd have to guess they take the Avalanche
Sharks: likely takes the Stars
Predators: take the Jets
Knights and Blues final matchup

Don't really see that this set of matchups provides any more or less intrigue than the ones we got, and for the most part, teams would just pick whoever has the lowest points available.

Man the reaction in Edmonton is not good. If Katz had fired Bob and than hired Holland I think the fans would be better off. The perception here is that Kevin Lowe,Wayne Gretzky and Mac T have an opinion along with Bob. They did nothing to address this.

Plus you paid a guy 5 million a year that has little to no success in the cap era. Its not like the Oiler's have overpaid for anyone past his prime

I confidently made my bet that the Oilers will miss the playoffs again.
