Turcotte has 1 more year in college (thank god). Vilardi isn't healthy and has shown no improvement. Would rather the likes of Kupari and JAD don't get subjected to a bad situation.

Best to hope for is a couple decent contract vets play well enough to bring trade deadline return.

One bright spot is that after this year Jeff Carter is only due $4M in actual money with $10.5M in cap hit, so he's bound for Ottawa.

Edit: also Kovalchuk has been paid most of his money already (signing bonus). $12.5M of cap hit left but only $5M of actual cash.

the most concerning part is the dumbass owner thinking giving him a 1-year extension (which is probably only partially-guaranteed, but who knows with these morans) so as to not be a lame-duck GM does literally anything

these guys are basically talk-radio callers ugh

..... apparently it's a 3-year extension??? still holding out hope that there's little money guaranteed/team options, and it's just a token thing meant to stop ppl from talking about Jimbo's future (lolol good luck with that)

Many teams would happily give up their piece to be exempt

There must be some if 'new expansion team within x years, exempt from draft' policy.

Can't wait till Florida and Tampa give Seattle a billion draft picks to take Vasil/BOB contracts.

Benning on the outlook of the team: "After making the playoffs we had to take a step back, ultimately our goal is to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs. We're in the middle of that whole process and I'm excited to see it through."

Thought the Habs fans should be optimistic after last season. Hard skating team with great 5v5 stats, get something out of PP and you are good. Not many moons ago it seemed Bergevin would run the organization into the ground but not many stupidities lately and things looking up. Lot of prospect depth.

That's a great deal if he can stay healthy. Hopefully his back issues don't slow him down too much. I'm a bit surprised he didn't take a short-term deal and try to get a bigger contract after.

yeah, suggests that he wants a medium level of security, so maybe his back is kinda borked? guess we'll see

and yeah, obv it's a damn shame that benning & acqiman are complete ****ing morans

They do have some decent prospects but they have Price being an average or slightly above average goalie over the past two seasons but getting paid 10 million a year, 4 of their top 5 scorers had career years and they still missed the playoffs. That doesn't make me optimistic as a Habs fan, those things suggest a team that will be worse this year than last year, not better.

Habs aren't making the playoffs any time soon.
