To be fair, it looks like the son was with the organization for the last couple of years already - he's been the director of player personnel since summer 2016.

The real lol is that they think they have a hope in hell of resigning Tavares.

Not sure what's more of an incest business in terms of coaches and managerial types... NHL or EPL.

more reports that teams are trying to trade for Brandon Sutter, for some reason
ofc Benning will refuse this gift due to being a complete ****ing idiot

and in other news, they'll probably trade the #7 pick for some magic AIDS beans

(TSN's summer trade bait list)

some of those names are clickbaity
like the Preds trading Pernell Karl? wat
why are Burakovsky & Namestnikov on there?
etc

What does everyone think Jeff Skinner would cost? I'd love for the Sens to acquire him. Feel like he's been super under the radar his entire career.

Apparently, Sullivan and Kessel had some issues at the end of the season. Phil wanted to play with Malkin instead of driving his own line. I'm fine trading Phil in a couple years, but he just scored 92 points. Because of retention, he costs less than EKane. If it's a big issue trade Sullivan. You can put Haglin with Malkin and Kessel and he can forecheck, backcheck and puck fetch for them. If they do trade him it better be for something good like Muzzin/Toffoli.

Personally I would stay away from Jeff Skinner. He is terrible defensively and whenever I watch him it looks like he's trying to do it all himself offensively making the other guys on his line completely useless. Coaches seem to play him on the third line for that reason.

No idea what he would cost though because he does score goals.

Not sure how I feel about the Pens possibly trading Phil. On one hand his contract is actually really good value with that retention and he's coming off a 92 point season. On the other hand it might be smart to trade him at his peak and get max value as opposed to what GMs normally do and wait for their inevitable decline. And I do think that if Phil has a bad season his trade value is going to tank hard.

re: draft

Sabres obv taking Dahlin 1
i guess the 'Canes are openly saying that they're taking Svechnikov 2
current rumours have the Habs passing on Zadina to take a center like Kotkaniemi (or Tkachuk, if they think he'll be a C)

Sens should snap Zadina if he's there at 4, otherwise it's kind of a pickle with Tkachuk being perceived as the BPA, but them really needing dmen, even before trading Karlsson
trade down?
or they could just take Dobson, who will surely rise in the rankings after shipping the Mem Cup

Arizona & Detroit should just take the BPA
Canucks seem desperate to trade the 7th pick bc hurrrrr durrrrr

actually everyone after like 3-4 should just take the BPA lol

anyway, should be fun

saw more chatter this week about how VGK almost completed that trade for Erik Karlsson at the deadline, and how they'll probably circle back and get the job done this summer

ya p smrt not to get the extra playoff run out of that move and play Pizza/Engelland a bunch instead

GMGM helped the Caps RANG after all...

Take what they gave for Tatar and add another 1st. 2 1sts, a 2nd, a 3rd. That has to get EK right?

702G,
we all end up here eventually. welcome to the nhl.

Yea obv Vegas season is nothing but an incredible feat but if they could have pulled EK off then that ring is pretty close. Will they be speculating about that 10 years from now if they dont GM great and don´t lift the cup?

Could be some fun happenings. Some seem to think that JT is gonna move but I feel that with Lou coming in he is gonna stay. EK some feel is gonna move for sure. Would be cool to see him in a contender, gotta be the most fun player to watch with McDavid. If OEL does not sign, he prolly going somewhere. What about Carlson, dont really care about Trotz but gonna generate stories too.

Draft: Pronman would not hate if Kotkaniemi went 3, has him close with Zadina. Playing C would obv be valuable. Could not do that here in Finland against men yet but don´t mean he cant (but should not be thought as gimme imo). Zadina has shown some pretty elite skill.

72o, others: how do you feel about Horvat? Thinking he might have a big season with all PP1 time and prolly he plays with BB (svertchi?). How they gonna deploy them, just throw out against other top-lines? Petterson prolly gonna get easy assignments?

6. Detroit - Dobson
7. Vancouver - Tkachuk
8. Chicago - Hayton
9. NYR - Bouchard
10. Edmonton - Wahlstrom

Since the 2007-08 season, only 2 teams have been able to to maintain an even-strength PDO that was 2% above or below the mean (>102 or <98) for 2 consecutive seasons.

Pitsburgh 2007-08 (102.4) to 2008-09 (102.1)
NYR 2014-15 (102.4) 2015-16 (102.2) 2016-17 (102.0)

ya Vegas have plenty in the tank to offer up, will probably give up too much AND take Bobby Ryan

so like
Tatar, Glass/Suzuki, probably more players/prospects, and some picks
for
Karlsson & Ryan

don't think the Sens will come out too badly
but what will they do with ~$25MM in cap space?
the fact that the Avs own their 1st this year or next is still an issue, but idk what they can do about it really
just YOLO and hope they miraculously do better next season in this rebuild

i think Horvat is pretty overrated by most, but ya the Canucks will be trash next season, so he'll get all the ice time he can handle as the 1C and probably new captain. until something changes, he & Sutter will probably go up against the best lines of opponents. ya Pettersson will most likely be sheltered big time until he proves himself, should get a lot of PP time regardless, because who else is there.

think Tkachuk will probably go higher than he should, in the 3-5 range

still have yet to really dig into the draft yet, but Wahlstrom sounds like he could be a nice pick in the 6-8 range

could be fun times for the not crap teams if guys like Boqvist, Velano, Farabee, Smith, etc fall out of the t10

so teams with elite talent and/or goaltending? it is known

weird how sortingbyPDO so closely resembles the standings...
