11. Florida - Lol Tallon
-----
10. Detroit - don't really want to see them get a bailout here
9. Buffalo - nothing against them, but just boring & bad, don't want to see a good player wasted there
8. Arizona - see above
-----
7. NY Rangers - won't even be mad if they won, but meh to big markets getting lucky
6. Philly - see above
-----
5. Dallas - adding another star there? sure, why not
4. Carolina - this new weirdo owner aside, they could use a star
3. Montreal - Lol Bergy, but that market getting a star appeals to me for some reason
-----
2. NY Islanders - need it after Tavares leaves, and it would be hilarious if they won with Calgary's pick
-----
1. Vancouver - seriously considered putting them lower because i don't want to see that moran get bailed out
Carolina, Montreal, Buffalo ... i can live with that

thought about it...

1. Buffalo - they need everything, they need defense, they need a potential superstar
2. Montreal - they could use a dman, but they're also painfully inept up front, so take your choice of sniper and be happy (i assume Zadina bc RUSSIAN FACTOR)
3. Carolina - u27 dmen: Faulk, Hanifin, Dahlbeck, van Riemsdyk, Pesce, Slavin, Bean, Fleury, McKeown, etc ... a star sniper is like 100x greater of a need for them

No luck Van, DGB hunch did not come in.

Faded the crappiest outcomes. But Mon getting 2nd is just an undeserved gift to Bergevin. And Buf after getting Eichel have been so bad dont really think they deserve 1st either. Guess the city can use him yeah. And if that new canes owner has been looking at JFJ for GM just gonna forget all benefit of doubt and start waiting for all kinds of stupidity.

FIN - USA 3-2 in the U 18 final weeeeeee. Watched all of 2min of tourney. Hah 59.58 usa had open net but whiffed on puck. Kotkaniemi 0+2 in final, has been rising up the draftboards.

Lou out in Toronto

his tenure there seemed pointless/counterproductive, but he'll surely get blown all the way to the HHOF/grave

should help shake things up

draft board has been a little stale over the last few months, and some forwards are obv going to jump up bc not everyone will want to be taking a dman

Lol no. He should get kudos just for dumping Phaneuf without long term ramifications.

Don't foresee the Oilers using that 10th overall pick. Chiarelli's seat is blazing hot to turn the ship around immediately, and I don't see how he can look at picking someone who will be ready in a couple of years as helping him. Maybe off to Carolina for Faulk (reasonable). Maybe off to NYI for whoever their 7th defenseman is (more likely given his moronic trade record).

that's nice, but you could probably name 3 bad things for every good one he did

most of the cleaning house took place before he got there, and they tanked for 1 year and got Matthews as old man Lou rode in on his white horse and took all the credit

he refused to make any bold moves and take a shot while their young stars were on their EL contracts
refused to address their blueline and give them a real shot this season
now Nylander is on to his 2nd contract next season, Matthews & Marner in 19-20
they're paying Martin, Zaitsev, and Hainsey $10MM in 18-19

zero chance you get Faulk for the 10th pick

one of Pulock / Pelech / Mayfield seems way more likely

Was amazed to see how many franchises were furious at Carolina. Seems weird to me, I like the new system.

If anything, they should go with picking slots for the top 5. Make tanking really not a thing.
---
I forgot some of the lolbad things recently in Tor. Zaitsev for 5 years, Andersen for 5. Martin and hainsey. Maybe fleecing Ottawa isn't that much of an achievement.
---
Edmonton really needs a D who can play the right side and has RANGZ. AMartinez would fit right in on D. DBrown could add some speed and character up front. Kings don't really need anything in return, but we'll take a 3rd round pick.

The best anti-tanking suggestion I ever heard was this:

The day before the season, you have all teams ranked on the basis of their finish the previous season. The worst team gets to take one OTHER team's draft slot for the next year. Second worst team gets to take any team's draft slot except the one already selected and so on. Only scenario where a team ends up with their own slot is if the president's trophy winner's turn comes and their own slot is the last one left.

As a result:

1) teams are always incentivized to try to do their best to ruin the draft slot of whoever took their slot
2) teams are forced to show their hand regarding what they REALLY think of other teams, creating new rivalries
3) fans now have two teams to be engaged with every year - their own team, and the team whose draft slot they have

I think it's pretty much perfect.
