not into the playoffs, just out of the good lotto odds

plus some of their prospects might be kinda ready to not suck by next season

Right. Makes sense. I'm a Rangers fan (don't ask me why, it's a life full of regret) and I also think that if the Rangers do "ok" this year it will be because their younger guys exceed expectations. I don't think Lundqvist is really going to move the needle on their performance - at his age, I would guess he has about an average season for a starting goalie, with some "turn back the clock" streaks where he dominates and some bad streaks. If the Rangers do well, his overall stats will look good and if they do poorly then vice versa.

Or maybe Hunter would be a bad GM without the London Knights cheating network funnelling all the best OHL kids to his team

ok so here's the quiz, it's the 2nd edition of Name That Player! (w/o context clues, mostly)

a rand group of meaningful players, except i filtered out ones that were too hard (i mean does anyone know what guys like Dominik Simon & Alex Kerfoot look like?), and ones that were too easy (the initial rand had guys like Stamkos, Subban, Marchand, Ovechkin, P.Kane, Burns, etc)

this will still probably be frustratingly difficult, i know
a good score will be like ... 10?

2002 to 2018...

Crosby

McDavid
Matthews
J. Hughes

Jack Hughes will basically for sure be a point per game player (99th percentile scorer) ... So that'll be cool for whoever gets him
and Lafreniere is even better

Who the **** are those guys? Got like four, a couple irritating somehow familiar and dozen+ got zero clue. Even if you told the names would have to luckbox to break ten.

DartGuy @LeafsMaz20

Extemely excited to announce I have been hired by North American Central Scouting. It will be an honour and great opportunity to learn under the very knowledgeable & experienced Director of Scouting at #NACS @MarkSeidel I will remain as the Head Scout of the @TigersJrA as well
for those of you who forgot about, or never heard of, this guy, he became a minor memeceleb in Toronto/Canada after being shown at a game with a cigarette in his mouth

anyway flash forward a couple years and he's being hired by Central Scouting, and co-hosts a radio show on TSN?

thought maybe the Dart Guy thing was just a lol and he's actually been in the fancystats game for years or something, but after a little digging around it seems like not, and he just used his memefame to springboard into actual media & hockey careers over like 2 years? what a ****ing world...

so if you've ever wondered why the hockey world seems like the biggest collection of complete ****ing morans running, in some cases, billion-dollar businesses, well this example of them going outside of the failson hiring chain for a change is a pretty damn good example of why

I found the back half of the pictures much easier than the front half, for whatever reason. Should've also had us submit guesses as to the pictures we think the most people will get right as well as the fewest.

yeah, and this is fairly similar to the Corey Hirsch one
though him talking about the issues related to being a career minor leaguer differentiates it

the old adage is you have to be crazy to be a goalie, and most of them are
though i get it, there's so much pressure with that position
probably a lot of guys who can't handle that **** and need help tbh
