Watching Senyshyn I can't see how he ever makes the NHL on a regular basis. Zboril might have a chance. Still one of the most idiotic draft decisions made ever in that year. DeBrusk beeing that "good" is nice, but doesn't make up for those gaffes.

kind of crazy that they're still loosely contenders, but obv they'd be in a much better position today had they just drafted Barzal & Connor with 2 of those picks instead of FPSing

i forgot they had three 2nd rounders (i remembered they got Carlo in there), but this is kind of the thing about those picks too, why reach for guys when you have three 1sts & three 2nds? just don't be stupid

i know i know "our guys had them rated there blah blah blah" but at what point do you stop and wonder that maybe the consensus from literally every other source with half a brain might be on to something?????

iirc Zboril was a bit of a reach, mid-1st was about the top of his range, most had him late-1st/early-2nd
Senyshyn was a total gamble there, most had him as a late-1st/2nd at best
Debrusk was a mini-reach, again, about the top of his range, but it's worked out so far

but i mean, it's possible they could have taken Barzal & Connor and still gotten Zboril and/or Senyshyn in the 2nd round, and if not, oh well

12. Stars - Zacha

i'll stop there because no way the Bumz are just sitting with those 3 picks

but in the oft chance they do ... oh, Konecny, Connor & Chabot? yeah sure
before the draft i had 6.BARZAL, a decent looking board if i do say so myself (save for LolCrouse), and the Bumz winding up with ~Konecny/Connor/Chabot if they stand pat

I sure posted a lot about hockey those days. That draft night must've had like 10x the post of this year's

Though he ****ed that draft up badly obv, he's done some ok moves I think (?) and given the level of GMing around the league, Sweeney might not even be below average.

They're almost as stupid as me (I was billed 100 bucks by the NHL yesterday bc I sent my cancellation to the wrong email adress)

yeah, that draft alone was like ~25% of this thread?

always impossible to know who's responsible for what inside of a front office, but his overall record is probably above average, in a league that has like 5 good GMs & 10-15 bad ones

You two clearly don't watch the habs play, not that I blame you really.
Byron is one of the very few players with heart on that team. He's also the only one who scored at least 20 goals the last 2 years, yes they are that bad.

The contract is fine, both in length and $.

In no way comparable to Roussel/Beagle

For under 4m, you get a back2back 20 goal scorer, defensive aware winger that excels on the pk and has been a fan favorite ever since he's arrived in Mtl.

Also easily movable asset if need be.

This would never make a top 10 worst move list by Bergevin.

If Byron regresses, obv this signing becomes dog **** (like suddenly becomes a 8~9 goals/year guy that is only good on the pk).

In those 20 goal seasons his shooting % were 23 and 17%. Yes I’m sure he’ll continue shooting significantly better than Ovechkin or Stamkos.

yeah sure whatever, Byron will keep shooting 20% through his age 30-34 years, nice signing

in other news, the most predictable thing oat has happened:

Quote:
Lamoriello on Ho-Sang: “Thought he worked hard, gave us everything he had... He just needs to go to the minors, he’s got ability, go there and get over all these issues that I haven’t seen, that transpired in the past. He’s been excellent in camp. Just go grow and get better.”
hockey is so amazing
new GM & coach come in to a team, everyone gets a fresh start right? lol no
some stuff apparently happened in the past, we heard, idk
can't let that **** go man

Lou also bolstered his defense by signing Luca Pizza

he's yet another guy in that "if you were actively trying to destroy a team, would you be doing anything differently?" zone
