Never know with an all star team in the khl.

I will say, in the 2012 playoff he was a monster even with massive injuries.
It's a good gamble considering the limited assets the Kangz have to improve

Andrew Berkshire @AndrewBerkshire

Going into the 2020-21 season, unless something changes, the LA Kings will have committed $38.45M in cap space to 6 players who are on average 34.7 years old. And then there's the Doughty contract.
is that bad?

As long as Blake doesn't extend the cap hell I'm kinda ok with whatever gives them an outside shot at not being death to watch.

Has to be something significant for those 2 players

Hamilton, Ferland, Fox to Carolina. Never heard of the latter two but twitter thinks it's a haul for the Canes.

Gonna go ahead and guess that Hertl or Meier is part of the package going the other way

Can't even remember what other prospects they have

I'd say a future 1st, but they already owe Buffalo one of those if they re-sign Kane
Was that every made official?

Weird draft for the Sens. Five of their seven picks hail from Tier II or HS leagues, including an over-ager from the ****ing NAHL. This feels eerily reminiscent to what happened like five years ago when they drafted a slew of high school prospects from Massachusetts/Minnesota over the course of three years, all of whom flamed out spectacularly after embarking on college careers at second tier schools. Every one of them is now barely hanging on in the ECHL. Oh, and for the second straight year we didn't draft a single Euro player (ahem, Eugene's budget is only so big).

I didn't love the Tkachuk pick but I think it's whatever since his basement seems to be pretty high and at worst he'll prob be a 20g/45p guy within the next two years. The two Junior A dmen we took look pretty dynamic but who they both look like looooongterm projects in the 4-5 year range. Everyone after that is probably just a name that will never even play in the AHL. Oh, and we drafted a guy named Jon Gruden so there's that.

What a gong show the Carolina Hurricanes have become
wasn't sure what to think about that trade, but ^ kinda confirms that the correct answer is Lol Flames

Dimitri Filipovic @DimFilipovic

This weekend for the Flames.

1. Watched the 6th ranked prospect on Bob McKenzie's Big Board fall to the pick they gave up for Travis Hamonic

2. Waited till 105th overall to make their first pick. Took a guy with 253 PIMs in 49 games.

3. Whatever the hell that trade was
LOL

Kovalchuk says he wants to win a cup and then signs with the Kings instead of the Bruins. Stop it, don’t say you want a cup when you don’t really care and just want to make 6 million and live in LA.

ya the Bruins didnt offer 3 years or that much money so it had nothing to do with winning lol

It's possible he just hasn't really paid attention to the League since he left. The last two seasons Kovalchuk was in the NHL the Kings went championship then conference finals. As dumb as it would be, it's possible that he associates the Kings with being a contender because they were contenders the last time he played in the NHL.

Flyers don't qualify Mrazek, so there's another 26yo UFA goalie for the pile

meanwhile the LolSens still trying to dump a 37yo Craig Anderson that is owed $9.5MM/2 lol
not impossible tho
it's front-loaded (no bonuses though), if you could get the Sens to retain something i wonder if a wealthy team would take him
could buy out the 2nd year at a reduced rate if it doesn't work out

Kovalchuk stuff is so dum

no idea why Bumz are getting all upset about him not going there
your offer was sub-par, and you wouldn't have wanted him anyway

not even sure why the Kings got involved at that price
their depth is so bad that i would have way rather used that money to dig through the UFA rubble to fill out a team

in other news, Sharks supposedly all-in on Tavares
would be more interesting than him staying on the Island anyway
NYI have a nice future, but JT should just scram for the now
and ya, could be worse things than landing in the Pacific

John Carlson on verge of re-signing in WSH. 8 year deal.

AAV will be $8M
as expected, THANKS AVS

would take Carlson out of play for Vegas
which puts Karlsson back into the mix

guess the Avs don't care, so long as they get Karlsson themselves, or the Sens' pick in 2019

That’s why the Kings got him, they must be convinced, or trying to convince themselves that he can keep their cup window open a little bit longer...and hope that their willingness to spend money on Ilya convinces Doughty that they’re still trying hard to get another Cup so he re-signs. They certainly have enough to make the playoffs in that division.

Being that Boston was so obviously involved in the Kovalchuk sweepstakes, what do we think they will do FA wise after losing out? Also, where is Jeff Skinner gonna go, because I’m hearing he’s getting traded as soon as Tavares’s fate is sealed.
