Yah, this.

I worded it awkwardly. Obviously he will destroy the Habs in team points earned.

a few years back i started watching a lot of canucks games because it was often the last interesting game of the night (lol west coast) and they had my favorite player to watch in Pettersson

over time i grew a fondness for the team and a number of their players

just watched their game vs the kraken, a team which is not only terrible but also hit by covid

they were clearly the far more talented team, but it was scary how sloppy they played

they didn't get a single shot in the pp until their third one and then that one only had one, this happened because instead of dumping and using the extra man to control it in the zone they kept doing dancing about around the red line looking for the perfect play

when they finally did decide to shoot (coach must have yelled) on the 4th pp sure enough that's where they score on a rebound of course

they went offsides way too many times, at least 3-4+ which is insane and a lot of them weren't even close just like watching youth hockey bad

but most concerning of all is Pettersson, it'll be difficult to want to continue watching VAN because this game was painful, before you saw the flashes of offesnive prowess and forgave everything else for what this could become, but now it's a few years later and it's still the same, except now teams have a proper game plan for him

he doesn't have the freedom to act that he used to have and it shows, he also seems to have no response around it - this is a wall i am all too familiar with personally as I went from all star to scrub in the process of like 1-2 years as a kid and seeing the old tricks that worked 2 years ago suddenly thwarted, the ability to just skate around no longer available, etc etc and having no answer is an extremely sysiphantic experience i wouldn't wish on anyone

perhaps i'm over reacting, but not only has Pettersson not taken that second step, but teams have figured out how to shut him down. he's already off the first line (something I initially thought to be about line makeup but now see that's clearly not the case at all)

very sad, hope I'm wrong, he's amazing to watch when he has that spark and I hope he finds it again because tonight he had no offense and was a liability while back checking and he genuinely stood out as one of the worst players on the ice

Sysiphantic…Sisyphean?

The Jets are still down, but they won the last two games.

I really liked Svechnikov in the first part of the Nashville game. He found some open men, took pressure off in tight situations, plays that most teams would have turned into opportunities. Maurice must know a few Russian swear words.

And Stastny has looked the best he has as a Jet early in this season. One day, will Lowry be the second line centre?

When Scheifele and Wheeler get back, they need to juggle lines until they find the right combinations. There’s just plenty of skill.

The Habs pickup anything we can’t keep under the cap. I think Perreault really could get to 20 if you paired him with Armia and gave him 3rd line minutes.

I remember watching the Ducks in the first game and the Wild and thinking they had solved scoring. All about where they were shooting from, not at the blueline, not low in the slot, that allowed them to be in the best positions for rebounds. The second Duck game, not so much.

A third Ducks game is coming up on Tuesday, so weird. They said we would only play Nashville 3 times this year. It must be some calculation about how they could reschedule cancelled games.

Am old enough to remember the irony of the Habs picking Wickenheiser over Denis Savard.....

Freddy Anderson 4-0 1.77avg .944sv% vs Leafs tonight. We all know what is happening here.

btw Zach Hyman 5 goals, more than Matthews, Marner, Tavares and Nylander combined. (3)

I'm dying to see what the public decides on as the reason for the Leafs' turnaround once their percentages normalise. I think we're already past the point of a players-only meeting doing the trick, but they're not gonna trade for a bottom-pairing Dman or grinding forward who could be credited with igniting the locker room. Coach should be safe as well. So the reaction is either gonna be "ok they showed up, let a wait for the playoffs" or something yet unforseen.

Leafs schedule looks quite friendly untill end of Nov so yeah should be winning games. Vgk-tb-bos -stretch the only tougher one, but vgk is struggling and tb-bos got worse so even that not too bad. Not sure who will get the credit thou, I say its "the charachter of the group" as they came together during a tough time.

Good for Hyman, gotta love that guy. Gonna keep potting them in up close if keep given pp1 duties. Plus all the stuff he does 5v5.

Yeah, planning on staying up for that one. Think the Leafs nick it, but very real chance they don't

Mikael F.:
I dunno about the character of the group thing, maybe for much of the media it's an angle (and the players will push it) but it seems like many fans are in way too deep with having written off these players and coach/management as greedy softies who are more interested in fashion than winning. They'll need some miserable conservative figure to regard as the saviour.

Idk I think Friedman has been banging the drum about how they finished last season strong and could be a real team this year. Don't think he was the only one either. Plus Dorion declaring the rebuild over etc
