Tampa builds leads and then goes into the prevent in almost all of their playoff wins. There is no way that works against Vegas IMO.

Jets didn't look good. Announcer hypothesized they were tired. This is possible.

I've bet against Vegas every round. Going to have to bet against them for cup as well.

Interesting to note: Vegas gets home ice vs caps, not tb.

I think there's something epic about the idea of the cup going to Florida or Nevada.

Also I've underestimated Vegas at every round. Not underestimating them now...

Vegas had one of the worst/most average rosters top to bottom in the playoffs but they managed to carry extreme goaltending/run good so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ go Knights!

sick thing about Vegas is the amount of cap space they have. Tavares *could* go there...

sign Tavares and trade for Hanifan, go Knights!

TB is playing pretty horribly in their own end, and in this series against the Caps. I think Vegas jumps all over them.

But would this Tampa team be THAT surprising if they won? This is a team that went for it at the deadline, and outside of last year has been an elite team for a while. They're pretty loaded, decently coached, and well run. Good owner too. I have no issues seeing them win. Prefer Vegas for the story, but it's close.

This is all correct. They actually fit the basic conventional path to a championship, i.e. is good for a while, wins and loses some playoff series, makes some mortgage-the-future trades as their window of opportunity closes.

The thing is, I don't think Vegas will be good next year without making some moves. This level of play is unsustainable.

Their prospect pool is going to join soon though. Tuch is only going to get better, he's 22. Cody Glass is going to be a player. Suzuki will be in the NHL probably by 2019 and he'll be real good too imho. And there are 3 other promising ones.

Imho that much cap space, all those 2017 high picks and the existing base they have is really going to be great. If they get away from giving out dumb contracts they could be a contender for 4-6 years no problem. And if Subban improves more, yikes.

they gave away a kings random for Tatar, there's reason to believe they will make more bad moves

Pretty much the first thing they're going to do is sign Karlsson. If they pay him like he's really a 40g scorer, and not a guy who shot 23% which will probably drop to about 10%, that'll be a bad sign for their future.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Tampa wins. Proven talent up and down the line-up, good upper management and a head coach that has one the championship at every level. I think Cooper is overlooked a lot, he is a high level game (or series) adjustments kind of guy.

First they have to finish off the Caps, then we can have some fun.

I thought it was cool that the Winnipeg crowd stuck around for the trophy ceremony. They seemed really respectful of the winning team.

Karlsson to Vegas basically has to happen

VGK are one of the few teams that can absorb Bobby Ryan's contract with relative ease
they have expenadable ammo in Tatar & Lindberg
good prospects like Glass, Suzuki, Brännström, and Hague to offer up
and 11 top100 draft picks in 2018/2019

it's a no brainer, it has to happen

(quick estimations with all free agents ldo)

Tavares - 10
Ryan - 7.25
Neal - 6.5
W.Karlsson - 6
Smith - 5
March - 5
Eakin - 3.85
Haula - 2.75
Reaves - 2
Bellemare - 1.45
Nosek - 1
Carrier - 1
Tuch - 0.925
-----
E.Karlsson - 6.5
Miller - 3.5
Theodore - 2.5
McNabb - 2.5
Schmidt - 2.25
Englellend - 1.5
Merrill - 1.375
-----
Fleury - 5.75
Subban - 0.65
-----
Total - 79.25 (like $5MM under the cap lol)

imagine shipping, and then adding Tavares & E.Karlsson lulz

He's an RFA. I doubt they'll be tripping over themselves to sign him to an outrageous longterm deal after a career year. They can let it play out if they want.
