Let the real games begin. Expansion lists.

Already reported Rags didn't ask Staal or Girardi to waive NMC. Lol Rags.
Rumor Clarkson contract gets dealt again.

Please let the Kings dump something.

So I guess 72o confirmed what everyone knew. That the Canucks WERE the AK of hockey... (of course now they are downright ugly)

All these stories about teams cutting deals on who to protect or expose and asking players to waive their NMCs is way over my head tbh. Can't wait to see what awful team LV ends up with.

No reason not to post rumour here.

It's something about Anaheim not asking Kevin Bieksa to waive his NMC (so they could expose him), and instead working a deal with Vegas where presumably LV agrees to not select [player that Anaheim has to expose instead of Bieksa] for some sort of compensation. But as I said I can't entirely make heads or tails of it all because there's a ton of speculation about teams cutting side deals with Vegas. V confusing

Vegas really should come out of this thing with a half decent team for the future, will mostly come down to if GMGM will **** it up or not

should walk away with a lot of picks/prospects in all these side deals, seems like most teams are looking to make one
(even guys who shouldn't like LolBenning)

will be fascinating to watch

Before I left LV, I got the feeling that management wanted the team to be good quickly. Lol if they actually follow that path.

ya seems like they'll probably take some pricey mistakes

if they're smart about term it's not the worst idea in the world to pick up a few name players that they can sell to fans
e.g. Flower, maybe Bobby Ryan is he's available

but i'd almost rather try to do that in free agency with guys like Oshie, Radulov, Shattenkirk, etc

it'll suck if they end up with a bunch of $3M+ role players though, rather than cheap young players who will be way better over the next 3-5 years

and if ppl want to be RU$TLED, check this out:

- Pens currently slated to have ~$13M in cap room with Schultz (RFA), Dumoulin (RFA), Daley (UFA), Sheary (RFA), Kunitz (UFA), and Bonino (UFA) as their biggest free agents, and Cullen (UFA) will probably retire
- they will add Kris Letang to a team that shipped without him
- they signed the apparent #1 2017 college free agent in this Zach Aston-Reese kid, who will join the team for next season
- they might get what is essentially a $5.75M Flower buyout from Vegas

so they'll basically have a lot of cap room to round out the bottom of their roster with whatever free agents want a good shot at a ring

the only silver lining is that old man Rutherford will probably **** it up

not asked to waive clause: Girardi, Staal, Hartnell, Ladd, Boychuk
refused to waive clause: Yandle, Phaneuf
agreed to waive clause: Fleury

something i failed to consider earlier is the possibility that Fleury could be traded before the expansion draft, which makes #183 even more lol

also, the Ducks have apparently made some trade with Vegas, which makes sense given that they're at risk of losing 1 of Rakell / Silfverberg / Vatanen / Manson, so should be interesting to see the details there

I suppose I could google, but is the expansion draft televised? Do trades happen during it, or basically before?

Rangers buy out Girardi

What the Rangers should be doing is bribing Vegas to take Lundqvist, then bribing all the other teams to give Vegas their best players so Hank can get his rang.

Feels like it's pretty straight forward in a lot of spots. The only interesting thing to me is the trades/handshake deals ahead. The draft itself might be a bit predictable. Slim pickings on a lot of teams and then SUPER obvious guys they have to take.

But yeah 1000% more fun than the typical offseason.

Aren't guys like Oshie, Radulov, Shattenkirk all looking for contracts with contenders? Or, in Shattenkirk's case, he wants to play in NY.

If I was Vegas I'd be more interested in a Grubauer type than Fleury. If they want to be decent in, say, 3 years time then they'll need a goalie. If someone like Grubauer pans out, he'll still be good then. Fluery likely won't be good by then, and any goalie they select in the entry draft won't be ready.

Assumed Grubauer being snatched up by Vegas was a foregone conclusion. Lol taking Fleury and his contract.

They have to take 3. I guess if I were them I'd rather not take both Fleury and Grubauer, because Fleury will be appointed the starter and they'd be better off giving Grubauer a long leash (at least 50 starts) and see what they've got. Fleury is really only valuable to showcase for half a season and try to flip at the deadline, which has some value of course.

The 30 players they pick have to have salaries adding up to at least 60% of the salary cap, so they'll likely pick up a couple of overpriced vets to help with that.

Probably, although Schmidt is another decent option that'll be available from Washington.

Ok I thought MAF had way more than two years on his contract. That's not unreasonable as it is for an expansion team. Agree that they should give Grubauer the majority of the starts if it comes to it tho
