believe it or not all the NHL refs have a very real biased towards avery as far as him drawing penalties. he's not as bad as Ulf Samuelson, I think as long as he continues to be an unsportsmanlike annoying pest he's going to get inverse treatement from league officiating. i can't think of a specific time he flagrantly cheapshot injured somebody, though i could easily stand corrected because i'm pretty baked

fwiw after he signed in dallas in summer 08 there was a divide of pro-avery/anti-avery for NYR fans. pre-summer 08 it was 99.9% pro-avery.

All the pre-season talk about the depth of forwards on this team is pretty lol. We now a guy on our second line that couldn't make Boston ffs and was out of hockey of hockey for a year.

As far as D go we now have a 3rd pairing of Alberts and Parent. That's like sprinkling aids on top of an aids sundae. Oh ya, Bieksa and Rome are 3 and 4.

Ya, ya ya I know AA hasn't been as lolbad as he was last year, but nice measuring stick and were 5 games in so lets not all start sucking his **** just yet. Granted any team is going to be in trouble if 2 of your top 4 are out, but I have to think there was a better way to revamp the D.

Part of me hopes Luo gets torched at the United Center again tomorrow just to see what happens.

Malhotra indicated that the fan did say something:

"The fan got a little bit too involved and there's just no place for that in the game," Malhotra said. "There are boundaries that should never be crossed. We are in our area of work and we are all for the hooting and hollering and supporting your team and saying whatever is tasteful out there. But as soon as you cross that line and want to become physical with a player, we have to make sure we take care of ourselves and are protected."

Canucks GM Mike Gillis said he expects a hearing Wendesday.

"The league will look into it, they'll have a hearing and we'll get their position on it," Gillis said. Does Gillis see a scenario where Rypien's actions were defensible? "I'm not going to answer that," Gillis said.

and it does appear like he was saying something, the way he was leaning towards the tunnel/bench as Rypien was coming off. i'm sure it was nothing major though, like "eff you tough guy/see ya later"/etc that in no way justified his stupidity.

but then again the fan apparently was not ejected from the building, just moved somewhere else to watch the rest of the game. so i guess the Wild organization don't feel like he was at fault in any way.

Tambellini has looked decent to me, and Schaefer not half as bad as i expected. and the team did give away a guy who is like Calgary's #1 center or something, he certainly could have been useful in a depth role. and hey, Oreskovich has 2g/1a/+3 in 4gp with the Moose, good enough i say. bye bye, Rypien!

but they really need Burrows back for a start, no one else on the team even resembles a top-6 forward.

at $6m/year (or whatever he got in the KHL) they didn't have a choice.

Well, it's not that vital for fourth lines to have chemistry and yeah, he gets injured a lot but he's a good PK'er, willing to fight, got lots of speed and energy and underrated hands, la de da. I mean, we have Peter Schaefer and Desbien on the fourth line right now. I'd take Rypien over them. You have obviously take injuries in account when you're dealing with such a 'reckless' player but he did play 69 games last year.

I don't anyone here is sucking on his dick. I just think it's unfair to be ragging on him this season when he's been playing the way a 5th/6th man (which his role is) should. Things should look a lot better when Hamhuis/Ballard/Burrows get back.

Um, no ty.

I meant more the rest of the city than here. I think I've heard how good Alberts is playing 62 times in the last 10 days.

Mmhm, fair enough.

Question is who's going to get the call up. Perrault? Or as 72o said, Oreskovich? CoHo apparently has 0 points and is a -1 in 4 games.

which is funny because that just means that he's not -3 with 5 penalties in like 8:04 of ice time. idk, i guess it's just nice that it looks like he might actually be a NHL player, and that the team didn't get totally fleeced by Carolina.

I would be pretty surprised if it wasn't Oreskovich. Which would be awesome, cause then we would have two players that quit hockey in the last couple years.

Halfway through the SJ game, dunno if we mount an epic comeback but atm, **** YOU NIEMI

SJ turning the puck over way too much, Niemi giving up bad rebounds, this **** sucks. Carolina up 3-0. I got home from work a few mins late so I missed Staal's shorty early in the game.

Sharks have hit two posts tho, including a sickkkkk near-assist from Thornton to Marleau for a tap-in past Ward's outstretched leg.

EDIT: Poor Dany Heatley is like "who the **** is Jamie McGinn and why am I on a line with him"

EDIT 2: DAN BOYLE SUPERSTARRRR > CAM WARD GOCB CUP WINNING GOALIE

EDIT 3: WHOOPS MARLEAU DEFLECTED IT

lol, Sharks get a PP when Couture gets hit in the face with a stick. On the PP, Couture gets whacked in the face AGAIN with a stick (right next to the puck!!!), no call.

EDIT: PATRICK MARLEAU SUPERSTARRRRR > CAM WARD GOCB CUP WINNING GOALIE AGAIN

Well, he's giving a Nabokov-esque effort for 2/5 the money so I can't complain too much...will just complain the same amount I did last year

****ING CPU D

I love Crankshaft but he just handed the Hurricanes a goal. 4 on 4, Staal picked his pocket in the corner and had an easy pass to the other forechecker for a goal with no Sharks in sight.

Then Couture hits a post, costing me Sklansky bucks for my prop bet with bons.

That play by Couture was so sick and his wrist shot was nasty. Just a tad unlucky tho
