After a lot of back-and-forth over the last few weeks and particularly the last several days, we've happily agreed as was previously mentioned to add 72off as a moderator, and it's been handled.

It seems that the consensus ranged from this sport/thread needed a lot of moderation, to it being self-moderating and otherwise fine. Even if it needs just a wee bit of moderation the volume has now become such that it would be helpful for a respected regular who knows the tone to try to keep it as enjoyable as possible.

The criteria being that the person 1) preferably be around a fair amount and 2) preferably not initiate nor escalate trolling. This is a forum full of trolls and it's hard to resist trollbait but 72off seems to keep himself above the mess if his posting in the unbelievably ****ed up EPL/soccer discussion is any indication. In fact he is far less of a troll than basically all of us except Needle77.

A non-trivial added benefit of this is that 72off is a soccer fan and come World Cup time he can help keep the nationalistic meltdowns somewhat under control.

I hope this is a good decision; I am fairly confident that the person chosen is anyway. Thanks for your input leading up to it.

totally agree w/ the decision to make 72off moderator - i for one welcome our canadian overlords. he's going to do real well iyam.

72o is a great choice though. Fair man but won't be afraid to come down with the hammer like the 'Moj'. Not to mention seniority. And a Canucks homer.
