Calgary gets depth but so what? their problem has been their 1st line no? i dont think i like this from either side

white is RFA, not UFA. sometimes you have to cut bait on a big salary like phaneuf because if people start figuring out that he's actually terrible, you won't be able to move him.

calgary needed depth imo. they've always needed another winger, now they have him - they need a center, they got that. a defender in return who's pretty decent, and a gritty mcgrit in mayers. i think it's a fine trade for both sides.

We traded our 4th best dman for a decent winger and potentially a #1 center. Stajan probably produces as much as Jokinen for 1/2 the cost now.

So sad that Niklas ****ing Hagman steps into the lineup and he's the only other Flames aside from Iginla to score 20 goals this year, lol.

I really like Ian White's game though. Great fit in Calgary.

Stajan, Mayers, meh...I think Stajan could play well with Iginla but I doubt he'll be back next year. But apparently Hagman and Jokinen are good friends, so maybe Hagman playing on Jokinen's left side will work out well.

Keith Aulie could be a really good defenceman in a couple of years, I'm pulling for him to do well in Toronto.

Surely Kaberle's gonna move now, no? Komisarek, Beauchemin, Phaneuf and Schenn as your top 4 for the foreseeable future?

Kaberle can be traded apparently if the Leafs miss the playoffs. He won't be moved this season though due to his no trade.

Burke said he's not going to ask Kaberle to waive his no trade. So he probably won't move this season. But if KingofFelt is right he's gone in the summer.

The Giguere / blake + toskala works for both sides.
Ana. trades one backup goalie for another. gets a depth forward, and frees cap space for next year to sign Ryan/wisniewski.
tor gets a goalie to tide them over until gustafson is ready. The money works about even, with Ana getting cap relief next year.
