When does Brad Shaw actually get his "first" head coaching job? Leaves the Blues, and they kinda suck now. Goes to the Blue Jackets and they are really good. Coincidence? I don't think so.
Hitchcock out in St. Louis and replaced by Mike Yeo. Not sure if he'll provide the turnaround the Blues' brass is looking for.
Hitch had roughly 1.98 feet out the door mentally - it showed through in his face and via the players. Guess it might be a while before another team employs a lame duck coaching plan.
Blues are 4th in shots, 4th in Fenwick, 3rd in Corsi, 25th in sv%
Lol Armstrong ripping his team
maybe don't make bonehead moves like swapping TJ Oshie for Troy Brouwer, you muppet
Steen has been bad, Upshall and especially Gunnarsson are trash
Yeo might be an ok coach
fix a couple things and they could be set up fine for the playoffs
(as much as any other year i mean)
Gunnarsson doesn't even play most games, and it's not like Polak was lighting it up, but probably still a bad trade. Oshie trade was horrendous. Armstrong has to go since he's continously been making terrible moves. The defense can be spotty at times for sure, but Jake Allen's positioning has been atrocious. Extremely fundamental stuff that he can't seem to grasp. Maybe that's just CORSI who can't coach that or something. Either way, he was fired as well, which he should've been the first to GTFO. Losing Brad Shaw, as I said yesterday, has been huge as well.
So yeah, Hitchcock probably needed to be fired, but I'm not sure Yeo will be any better. I don't have optimism for this season, but at least something was done to see if there is any hope in actually having a contending team when the playoffs roll around.
Patrick Marleau gets his 500th, has there ever been a quieter 500 goal scorer in the league? I bet even most hard core fans wouldn't realize he was even close to 500. One of the most under rated players ever.
