Even the 4 seconds on the clock from tonight's example is theoretically enough time to recover an onside and have a Hail Mar or Lateral play.

Also, for even more hidden equity with the right amount of time on the clock, if you get the first TD early enough, say mid-to-late 3rd Quarter, there's even a line for "Make the 2, FG, FG to tie" if something happens on the second scoring drive to force you into kicking, like a sack or penalty in the red zone pushing you into a 4th and 15 or something.
I mean the game theory on this stuff is pretty much just trying to cover situations where there's time for just the two scores and nothing else (otherwise you get into stuff like the other team having 1:00 and being forced to play correctly and try to kick a FG at the end of regulation because they're down by 1, etc.) but point taken.

One minor spot where there's hidden equity in this strategy is when you make the 2PC the first time and then aren't completely ****ed if you miss the XP on the second TD.

wheatrich is confused (shocker) that ppl were lol @ going for two. What he missed was the context of the lol was going for 2 after kicking the extra pt when down 8.

Looks like I missed a fun game.

That's what D&D does I guess.

I'm pretty rustled that the helmet to helmet no-call on Rivers at the end of the game is getting so much press. It was a bang bang play where Rivers was still trying to gain yardage. O'Daniel led with his shoulder, which hit Rivers' shoulder first, and then they bumped helmets. Maybe it's technically a penalty but it's not called a huge % of the time.

The continued talk about the play is solely because Rivers got up and threw a hissy fit. If that's Mahomes he maybe gestures to the ref a little, then goes back to the huddle. And the announcers and pundits forget all about it.

Mahomes got hit a lot more egregiously on 3rd down in OT against the Ravens and no one even mentioned it because Mahomes didn't throw a fit.

Mahomes clearly needs to step up his whining game to get the makeup calls.

lol Chiefs fan.

Mahomes wasn't hit in the head.

There was also a play on Travis Benjamin where he was hit helmet to helmet by two different Chiefs.

But of course no call because the Chiefs got every ****ing call go their way and still lost.

When is the last time a 13-3 team made the playoffs as a wild card? Has it happened before?

Might happen in LAC's case.

Lol so it's ok now to lower your helmet and spear the QB in the chest after the throw?-

The defender lowered his helmet, hit Mahomes well after the pass, and got him right under the chin. You can see him grab his chin on the ground. You're crazy if you look at those two plays and think the Rivers hit was worse of even equivalent.

I'll call out the Chiefs all the time and admit there were plenty of bad calls both ways that game. I'm a homer but not a blind homer.

I'm just annoyed that I know damn well if Rivers doesn't throw a fit no one is even talking about that play. And if Mahomes did throw a fit the other play would have been talked about a lot.

suz man, youre making it really hard to root for a team thats really fun to watch. incessant complaining about officials and how they are out to screw your team is just tired. refs suck. they suck for everyone. enjoy your team that looks like theyll be good for a long while (that also happens to be morally respectable by cutting your starting rb for being a piece of **** instead of twiddling their thumbs hoping he comes back for the playoffs). chiefsplanet got you all whacked out

now is the time for happiness
not bitterness

Whatever. It's still bull**** that Rivers hissy fit makes such a big difference.

Is the NFL really gonna let them play an AFCCG at Staples? I wonder if they move it to the Coliseum.

It was literally no different man. There was no call. Rivers bitched, Mahomes didn't, neither got 15 yards. Who cares about the press? ****ing SAS is over there talking about hunter henry being a key part of the game and you care what they think?

Your team is great and a blast to watch. You just gotta get out of that cesspool of an echo chamber thats decided the world is against you. It warps your mentality on things and make you enjoy them less.

Youre a good and fun poster for years. Just hate seeing you so worked up over **** like that. I hope you have a great holiday man and gl to your team

Last night you said Reid was good; his in game is a KILLER in the playoffs/close games. It’s legitimatey a huge problem.

I agree. But he has gotten somewhat better and there are worse coaches.

The only big in-game killer I can think of last night was that stupid timeout when the Chargers were in disarray with 5 seconds left on the ticking play clock.

Well the handoff on our last drive sucked. But I swear if he throws there everyone blasts him for forgetting about his running game and not burning clock.

My only hope is that Mahomes now realizes he absolutely has to sell out to win the game in that spot.

Suzzer seems to be conveniently forgetting all those phantom 3rd down holding calls on the Chargers that kept some of their drives going.

Bottom line though is that is was a ****ally reffed game with bad calls. The league isn't out to get you and if anything the league has been sucking Mahomes' dick a little too much.

It's hasn't happened since the NFL expanded to 8 divisions, and only once before that in a 16-game season.

In 1999, the Titans finished 13-3, behind the 14-2 Jaguars. The Titans ended up beating the Jags in AFC championship before losing to the Rams in the SB.

In 1988, one week of the season got cancelled by a strike. The Saints finished 12-3, behind the 13-2 49ers. The Saints lost the wild card game to Minnesota, who then beat San Francisco but lost to Washington in the NFC title game.
