What do you guys think the % chance is that the total points scored tonight is under 27.5?

They just renewed TNF. The point is to force companies like Time Warner to carry the NFLN. It's money right in the NFL's pocket. Between the ad revenue and the NFLN getting added they make a ton of money.

Packers fan so I bet the bears straight up (+190) as a hedge. Here's to hopping I win the over to cover part of my second bet.
I do not understand this mentality. I would never bet against my favorite team. To make up for my team losing, i would have to bet so much that i would actually root for the other team to win.

I think it's about finding that fine line where you are effectively paying for wins. Some people will spend easily $100 going to watch their game play live and they might lose. You can sit at home and bet $100 on the other team and if your team wins, great, and if they lose "hey, FREE MONEY!"

It's all about the cognitive dissonance. You don't actually know that day if you prefer to win the money or get the win. But after either event has occured, your brain utilizes cognitive dissonance and tells you you are happy with the result. I've never done this, though.

But we get that a bit with FF. If my favorite team is losing I will be like "at least I'm taking care of business with my (FF) team."

when i go to Bills games I'll often put a bet in on the opponent. nothing big and it's just an emotional hedge. If the Bills win I'm happy and don't care that I lost my meager bet. If they lose then hey, at least I won my bet.

edit: the spread has to cooperate too. I'm not betting $25 on the Pats -17 just to see the Bills lose by 14.

LOL, no.

The NFL has invested a ton of money in the NFL Network. Without the Thursday night games, NFLN is worthless.

i understand the premise behind doing it, but for me it does not work. I might be slightly less enoyed if i win a little money, but i would much rather be even happier the times my favorite team wins.

Obviously people react diffrently. I think it might have somthing to do with playing competative sports for most of my llife. I absolutly hate losing.

I know you are joking, but i would think someone who has played sports at a decent level, are more likely to have the same mindset as me then the average fan. Or i might be just completly off base.

Is there a worse chant in sports than "GO PACK GO!" I mean, seriously? It's stupid and annoys the **** out of me.

I know there are other teams that to the "go <insert team> go" chants, but can't think of any off the top of my head. They all suck a lot.

Let's go CUTLAHHHH and MARSHALLLL
