I'm no big Keenum fan but the odds of Cousins leading a 13-3 team is about 1 in a billion. Cousins is essentially useless for any team looking to advance past mediocrity.

So QBR, ANY/A, points per game. What metric aside from win % (which is almost entirely due to defense improvements) and interception % does Smiff this season rank higher than Kirk last season? I'm not against bashing Kirk right now, he's been awful the past few games, but Smiff > Kirk is still a take that makes zero sense to me

It has to be awful being a NFL DC right now, you've got KC running whatever the hell including the triple option, Chicago is running similar to KC plus various plays from cool ones that worked eons ago. (the fat guy TD goalline plays are from the 85 bears and they've shown the T formation a couple times this year) Oakland is running stuff from 15 years ago. Buffalo and Baltimore are throwing out running QB offenses. A **** load of different RPO's out of the same formation based on how the defense is lined up. The Browns ran what was it the wing T? at the goal line against the panthers just this week.


and I didn't mention jet sweeps, screens, read options and everything else and the kitchen sink could be run these days. No wonder some DC's are just f this and prep systems hoping they only give up like 24 or so.

Maybe it's just me but Kirk is the most frustrating QB in the league to watch by far. I don't know why you're acting like Kirk Cousins plays like that. Sam Bradford in 16 on the Vikes has about the same DVOA stats as Kirk this year.

success rate i believe is like how likely the team is to get:

50% of necessary yards on 1st down
70% on 2nd
all necessary yards on 3rd and 4th.

might be off on that.

regardless im not sure it is the best at determing oline strength because i think its safe to say the steelers have at least a top 3 offensive line and potentially the best.. and this matrix has them as decidedly average.

This talk about keenum>cousins or even smiff is funny. Others have posted enough numbers but watching both many times over it's clear as day. Keenum is a pretty bad NFL qb, a borderline backup. Cousins while not in the top tier by any means Is and has been a solid starter for quite a while.

He does not deserve even close to his contract but well, the NFL is dumb in that regard. Billnye is right that the running game has not helped them and been downright awful this year, any explanations for that besides lol kirk?

I think the point is that Cousins is obviously better than Keenum from what we've seen from both of them. Cousins is pretty much an average QB. Seems like the perfect starter for a team with an elite defense.
