Lol so Goff throws a line up of 2200-21-3 in his last 9 regular season games with multiple 300 yard games and he sucks but Darnold can throw an underthrown 41 yard TD that is intercepted or defended 99% of the time and a 5 yard dump pass to Quincy that he broke tackles and scored with but because the Jets won on the road against Detroit when they were +4 in turnovers Darnold's good?

Ok got it.

I can't really say Darnold is good until I see him play well. I suspect he's bad.

Who said Goff sucks? Goff is clearly pretty good and with his coach and system he had a pretty good chance to succeed in his 2nd year and did very well--Goff was 22. Let's not forget that Goff has GURLEY and now has a ton of weapons on both sides of the ball.

This was Darnold's first start at 21 on the road and he didn't look totally lost as a rookie starting for a team that had really low expectations and destroyed an average team on the road (maybe the lions will suck under their new coach, idk but with an idiot coach last year they went 9-7). I don't know a ton about the Jets roster but I can assume there isn't that much talent there based on what they did last year. Darnold is currently #13 in DYAR for a QB--again which isn't too shabby for a QB in his first start on the road.

You're really just being dense here. Goff was good last year. Darnold had a really good game 1--he might not be good but you can't argue he had a pretty good game for a 21 year old rookie.

Expectations for rookies vs 2nd year guys are much different especially for QBs. Do you NFL bro?

No I guess I don't NFL.

I'll let you guys enjoy Darnold but leave you with this, that 41 yard TD pass he threw was a bad throw. The normal outcome of a throw like that is typically bad. If you take that bad throw away or even worse make it a pick his game looks bad last night.

Time will tell.

if this is how he plays at the end of year 2, yes he won't be good/great. THIS IS GAME 1 with a cast of mediocre characters. i'm not a jets fan, he didn't look bad and hit some nice quick passes. are your expectations crazy high for rookie qbs in their first game?

Game 10--Goff vs Miami at home--17/31 134 yards 0/0
Game 2--Watson at Cincy (he came in mop up duty game 1 vs Jack)--15/24 125 yards 0/0
Game 5--Trubinsky vs Minnesota--12/25 125 yards 1/1
Game 1--Wentz vs Cleveland 22/37 278 yards 2/0
Game 4--Lynch @ Tampa 14/24 170 1/0
Game 1--Winston vs Tenn 16/33 210 2/2

So other than Wentz who GOATmoded his first 4 games, Darnold's first game looks favorable to all of the round 1 rookies who played year 1 the last 4 seasons.

Well he didn't really get the opportunity to throw in the second half - his first drive he went from his own 25 for a TD to go up 24-17 and the next time he touched the ball it was already 38-17 so they didn't bother throwing anymore.

What was your opinion on his display vs Trubisky's this week?

“Sam Darnold did not look good” was not a take I expected to see, but here we are.

I agree that Darnold did not look good, in that he was wearing a Jets jersey. Total fashion faux pas.

Apparently the Rams wanted to trade for Mack, sign him to huge deal, then trade him after this season. Basically a 1-year rental so they can sign Goff next year.

Imagine a line of Donald, Suh, and Mack with that secondary.

They have control of Goff for another 2 years. Why would they extend him now?

If you took Baltimore in survivor pools congratulate yourself. Mine is down to 79 out of 181 after week one. Too bad the Bears choked or it would have been 70.

Not that a win over this Raider team is particularly impressive but still 1. Rams

Apparently the Jets knew the signals Stafford used in last night's game.

Explains how they stopped their offense but what about dominating their defense?

Not ready to anoint the Vikings quite yet

Cousins finished 0/8 and took 3 sacks although he also had some amazing throws. Pretty standard. Also seemed like they were having a ton of trouble running the ball.

Bills FO tried to tank last year but players thwarted the plan.

FO left nothing to chance of that happening again this year.

So I guess they're now on schedule!

The question is, do the Bills pick Oliver or Bosa at No. 1, or do they trade down?

Feels like a bad year to have the #1 pick. No obvious Franchise QB's and a ton of great DL to choose from.

Then just pick Oliver or Bosa if you can't trade down.

The most pathetic part of this Bills roster is that unlike other teams that tanked in the past, they barely have any cap space to roll-over to next year.

They have about $10 million - when teams like the 49ers have $40 million, Cleveland $60 million.

Pretty bad when you have the worst roster and a bad cap spot. Only other team with as dismissal a future outlook in Miami.

People on teams with real QBs, at what point does the existential dread that your QB will get injured set in? Like do I have at least one season to enjoy this?

The Bills will have over $90M in cap space next year. Not sure where you're getting your info. The whole point of tanking this season was to get to next year with that cap space.

Bills cap situation is that way because they have by far the most dead cap in the league. Which is really the only way you can get into cap-trouble - cutting/trading bad contracts and taking on dead cap.

Bills have $90M free next year. Roster is terrible yes.

My prediction for Buffalo would be either this year or next year they clean house. Hire new HC+ new GM. That combination will likely result in a new top-pick QB. Allen will be an afterthought before ever really getting a chance with a competent roster.

My point is that the other teams have cap space rolling over from this season to next season. So while Bills will have lots of space next year, it will just be due to having no players signed. Other teams have been saving space during the bad years so that they will have tons rolling over.

Having lots of cap room because you have no players signed isn't really an asset, while having lots of cap room because you rolled over a bunch from your bad years is.

For instance, assuming Bills were tanking, they could have passed on Benjamin and then they have an extra $9 million roll over to next season.

I agree with this. All they've done this year is tear down their roster (and waste a high draft pick on a terrible QB) so that whoever takes over can start the rebuild in earnest. The issue is that while they will have a pretty clean cap sheet next, the rebuild will start with no assets.

The picture is a little deceiving. Trubisky missed the receiver coming open then by the time he saw him it was too late.
