Shell shouldn't have been fired when he was, Ditka had a strong record (even though he personally sucked)

Retread Gibbs wasn't bad. Made the playoffs twice in his four seasons and lost to Seattle both of them.

Yes, don't hire people who were good a decade ago is certainly correct.

Also the 49ers claimed they made about the same offer for Mack the Bears did, the Raiders just thought the Bears would be worse,LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

The 49ers had a better record than the Bears last year, and the QB situation was Trubisky vs Jimmy G, so laughing at that seems like 20/20 hindsight *. Also, whichever team they traded him to was going to get much better on defense.

(*) Gruden is still awful though

Assuming guy at home is Mahomes here - he also has was down 2 guards, missing one WR and the other hobbled and mostly ineffective, lost his RB and backup RB, and still scored 28 points against the #8 defense. Rivers put up 29 points against the 31st ranked defense.

If Mahomes defense is remotely competent he wins easily Thursday night - largely thanks to Rivers playing like complete ass the whole first half. When a QB scores a TD to give his team a 14pt. lead with 7 minutes left, it's kinda tough to put a ton of heat on him when the defense collapses.

The Chiefs have lost 3 games to legit Superbowl contenders by a total of 7 points. Mahomes has also pulled out insane wins at Pitt, at Denver and vs. the Ravens at home - and curb-stomped Rivers in LA - which apparently doesn't matter towards MVP consideration or something.

Although I admit Rivers has been amazing lately and was absolute nails at the end of that game.

As were Goff and Brady this year. And Mariotta last year in the Chiefs playoff game. And Big Ben in the playoff game before that. And Luck coming back from 28 pts. down in a playoff game. Etc. But we can stop Case Keenum, Lamar Jackson or David Carr on a good day.

Naw it's guy who put up 28 points against a top 10 defense is still ahead of guy who put up 12 points against one of the worst ds in the league and only won because of running game and the opposing starting QB is a legit cripple

They might give rivers a lifetime achievement award if chargers win the division but there is no way in hell he would win over a guy who wins the division over rivers with the worst defense in football while beating him on virtually every statistical category voters care about other than having like 3 more interceptions

Tony Kornheiser (who's usually fairly on the ball) just said the Rams, Saints and Chiefs all looked like world-beaters early in the year but now have all been beat decisively.

Freaking narratives man. Painfully yes, decisively no.

lol @ missing a few linemen or receivers. Rivers commutes to San Diego daily just so he can spend a few hours in a house overrun with his spawn. Who's got it worse than him?

That insanity is voluntary on his part, though.

Saints just played three straight on the road, lot of recency bias in burying Brees. I think the offense is due for a serious bounce-back next week, especially since the Pittsburgh secondary is, well, bad.

Well, they did just shut down Bardy. Other than the one blown coverage for a TD, they were pretty solid.
