I have zero sympathy for throwing beers at people except arguably that browns jaguars game they missed the playoffs because of refs.

“letter of disinvite” being a thing is worse than throwing the beer

One of these non-calls has much higher leverage than the other.

For throwing it on an opposing player? No that seems about right. Last thing the NFL wants is a Khabib/Ron Artest incident.

It is more of a PR move anyways, it's virtually impossible for these bans to actually be enforced.

So far it's on par with Marino's second year as starter where he threw 48 TDs.
There aren't too many starts as good as this one to begin with - removing all qualifiers.

Culpepper 2000 had some similarities though. 11th overall pick starting after 1 year on bench. Amazing supporting cast (Moss, Carter, R. Smith 1500 rushing at 5.2ypc). Lead the league with 33 passing TDs (7.0 TD%). Also ran in 7 more. 98 passer rating was the highest rating for a QB who started 12+ games that season (Griese 10, Green 5, Warner 11).

You edited this post where you said the missed call on the Chiefs hold during their 97 yard return made a 20 yard difference. WTF were you talking about?

Mike Smith fired yet again.

Worst part is he'll prolly still be considered for HC jobs.

Marino didn't start his entire rookie year. He came in after 6 games or so to take over the #32 passing offense in the league and I believe he was the AFC starter in the Pro Bowl despite only starting 9-10 games and was named 2nd team All Pro. He was easily and obviously the best passer in the NFL as a rookie and was every bit as incredible in his own way as any super stud young QB has been since. His first couple years nearly every INT he threw was a perfectly targeted ball that bounced off the stone textured hands of his receivers into the arms of a defender. I'm on board the LOL olds train generally but I seriously think Marino would average 400+ yards a game if a time machine brought his rookie body to 2015+.

He’s good buddies with Koetter, so he probably keeps his job if the Bucs were only the 30th worst defense in the league and not historically bad.

Things have really fallen off a cliff for him since those early Atlanta days.

deshaun watson is close

comparing to anyone historically is obviously going to favor the new guy since half the teams every week are throwing for 300 yards these days

It's preposterous how good Marino was, he was putting up post-2004 rule change numbers in 1984. 48 TDs when second place in the league had 32. Not just a howitzer arm and accuracy but somehow he was a statue who was impossible to sack.

Peyton's 2004 season is comparable except that Marino didn't need his GM to lobby the league for passer-friendly rules changes to do it.

Roethlisberger went 13-0 as a rookie in the regular season but with only 2700 yrds and 27td-11 ints.

Yeah it's kind of crazy because he was insane his first 3 full years of starting (84-86) then he was still good obviously but nothing like that anymore. From 87-99 he would only lead the league in passing yards two more times and never lead in touchdowns or passer rating again. He lead the league in interceptions in 89 and only had two more touchdowns than picks.

You have to be pretty committed to feeling victimized to then go back, find out you're way off about the call, and still feel like you got screwed.

The missed no call you're complaining about has a remarkably similar impact on points EV to the missed no call on the return that ended up with Chiefs on the Pats 3 vs starting on their own 10 like they should have.

Thanks for posting this, it prompted me to read Dan Marino’s Wikipedia page, where I learned he fathered a secret love child with his mistress, who successfully extorted him out of millions. Still, this information is obviously no longer confidential.

you know how we always lol @ best college team beating the pro team

what if nathan peterman started and played the whole game. He's probably the worst ever adjusted for era. (plenty of guys got one shot threw up a peterman and never got another one, why the hell is peterman still on a damn roster is beyond my comprehension)

Bills could oh idk sign a QB who's at least shown competence at one point or trade for the other guy back who is again, nowhere near as bad as nathan peterman, who is in fact, the worst.

Is his family blackmailing the pegulas? This is supposed to be a NFL franchise. I wouldn't have him for the XFL at this point.

Buffalo's offense is worse than the Chiefs offense is good.

Falcons defense probably most surprising, in that they are only -200 instead of like -600.

How could that many teams supposedly have a worse defense than the Chiefs when they are giving up 500 yards/game?
