Nothing like a sanctimonious Barnwell article (complete with strawman) to start your Monday.

The quote you'll hear if you watch the NFL closely for more than a week or two is that there simply aren't 32 starting quarterbacks to go around to play for 32 teams at any one time. It has always been a frustratingly naive quote, and there are a few reasons why it's an inaccurate cliche. For one, by definition, you can't have 32 above-average starting quarterbacks in a league with 32 starting quarterbacks.

I thought I read CFB ratings are down this year as well but could be wrong.

Obviously I do on some level, as do you, otherwise we're not having this conversation right now.

Goodell bit was a troll, but you can bet if things keep trending this way the owners are going to want to blame him or at the very least scapegoat him. Also everything is Goodell's fault in case you're new here

i'm sure we all know its not the nfl, people just don't watch stuff on tv anymore so this is never surprising. every sport is down and events are down, the emmys were also at an all time low last night.

12% YoY is surprising considering this was a better matchup. Rematch of last years NFCCG with both teams having known star QB's.

Ratings are down for everything and the entertainment market is going to continue to become more and more niche. But the ratings declines from 2014-2015 to 2016-2017 are pretty drastic. Hard to explain that away just to people binge watching Netflix more imo.

its not netflix and chilling, its that you can easily consume as much nfl as you want without ever putting a game on your tv

The one site I saw said that FL ratings still were not included.

Piracy sites aren't factored in obviously but don't the ratings count streaming of the primetime games online via watchespn and nbcsports.com?

how's that? you mean, with highlights and such, or devices like streaming?

Sports had long been thought immune to the DVR effect, so I don't think this is a "people don't watch live TV anymore thing". for the reasons why NFL ratings are down, we can go back to the weekly discussion about this topic last year

2p2 football posting is down as well.

anyway Seattle's OL again

Green Bay was in dime defense on 3rd and goal at the 1 last night. Atlanta only sent in 2 WR's.

Keep calling dime every god damn time.

Seattle is a 9 win team at best this year. If they had to play the AFCW instead of the AFCS this year they're probably a sub-500 team.

Maybe Seattle should try this instead

anyway SNF
week 4, Colts @ Seahawks
week 5, Chiefs @ Texans
week 6, Giants @ Broncos

well if they've only got 2 flexes, they should blow them all by week 6. (I know they're stuck till week 5).

I'd be shocked if they flex out of week 5 or 6.

Chances Luck plays week 4? Seems slim if he is already ruled out for week 3.

Would love to get rid of that Seattle team in survivor that week. With that OL they could lose to anybody, as they came pretty close to doing so to the 9ers.

It would be awesome if Luck remains out indefinitely but makes a miraculous recovery to full health five minutes after Pagano is fired.

At what point do you just shut Luck down for the year? They plays Browns and 49ers at home two of the next three games and there's a real chance they lose both

NE the survivor pick this week? Used Buff and Oak thus far.

what could have possibly been the logic behind the giants playing 3 primetime games in the first 6 weeks? They're one of the most unwatchable teams in the league.

Big market team that won 11 games last year. Seems pretty clear cut.

Less clear cut is who scheduled Indianapolis @ Seattle on SNF in week 4. Best case for that game was Seattle being like a 10.5 point favorite and that's even if Luck was healthy and playing.
