Report coming out that the Bengals, not the Browns, are the ones who screwed up the paperwork on the McCarron deal.

Both teams screwed it up is not only well in play, but a very likely scenario.

According to the report, the bengals sent in the form with only 1 not both signatures as needed.

Any word on which 2nd rounder the Browns were going to trade? If it was their own it would be super horribly bad. If Texans, quite bad. If Eagles, merely bad.

So they would've basically traded Carson Wentz and DeShaun Watson for AJ McCarron and one pick.
uhh, what?

Shocking. People lol'ing Browns have no clue and are spewing **** I'd imagine Trent Dilfer would say on NFL Countdown. They are unarguably better off today than they were at this point last year.

The browns are clearly worse than last year.

The interesting thing is both the 9ers and browns looked at the projected early pick QB's coming out in the draft and said **** that.

they both did that last year too, and the Browns did that with Wentz as well, so...

Trading a 2nd (vv high 2nd?) and a 3rd for AJ McCarron on an expiring contract IS INSANE. Seriously. WHAT THE ****?

Just wait for FA and decide what your best option is at that point. Seems like Hue is incredibly desperate to get a few wins this year.

IMO passing on Wentz is easily excusable given the deal they got and where he came from but trading down from 11 last year when they already had Garrett and Watson was such an experienced QB is inexcusable

Apparently the Browns and Bengals had a deal in place for A.J. McCarron but the Browns failed to confirm with the league office before the deadline. I think the Browns caught a lucky break there.
I think both are better than people might think.

so far curtis samuel's only contribution all season is dropping a pitch that was right in his chest to give the bears a free touchdown. if he averages more than 30 yards a game i'd be shocked

I wonder which team is gonna get the Deshaun Watson / Teddy Bridgewater discount on Lamar Jackson.

Samuel hasn't played many snaps yet. But his 3 rushing attempts have gone for 50 yards, he's explosive when he's worked into the offence. He's batting about .500 on his targets so that can improve. But sample's been a bit low.

he's black and black qbs get underdrafted if you are someone who focuses on the awful first rd white guy picks like trubisky/bortles/weeden/manziel and ignore the black ones like winston/newton/manuel/rg3

if you want to look at a player on his merits jackson has been showing nice improvement this season even though his team is worse so low level analysts think he is worse

Do you think Deshaun (or Wentz) would look this good in Cleveland? No way right? I think it's just tough for bad teams bc if they pull the trigger on a QB too early (like Cleveland did with Quinn, Johnny, Weeden) and they perform badly, then they look dumb for not building the rest of their roster. Very few QBs in the history of the NFL are situation-proof, I think Watson & Wentz were both fortunate to be drafted by teams further along than the avg team that drafts them in the spots they were taken.

To be clear I'm not saying I don't think they're good, I'm moreso defending teams like Cleveland for passing on them (when they probably weren't sure things who would persevere regardless of the situation) in favor of trying to fill out the rest of the roster.

Don't forget Goff! The Rams shoulda benched him and signed Kaep or something.

I think putting Cam Newton and Jameis Winston (not to mention "rookie of the year until his coach ruined his knee") RG3 on the same level as Brandon Weeden and Johnny Manziel says more about the difference in how black vs. white QBs are evaluated than I ever could.

outside of the real elite QBs most are a product of their situation. look at a guy like bradford. it took him 5 years to not look terrible and then last year in a merely decent environment hes completely solid
