Almost every player from this era will barely be remembered. Rod Woodson is barely known now. Any casual fan under 25 will barely know Deion.

I know a lot of players (in most leagues) from the 60's and 70's, and I'm not a big student of the game. It gets way less known for me in the 50's.

Dick LeBeau (may not quite be 60 years).

seriously, such a straw man. who can name any football player who retired 60 years ago?

Jim Thorpe? a couple of other guys with trophies names after them?

Football won't exist in 60 years time anyway. CTE is going to take the entire game down eventually

Nah, it'll be played by androids driven by 12-22 year old kids on wireless neural links. The Deion Sanders droid is gonna be amazing.

Right? The game was substantially different 60 years ago besides. And given the way institutional memory works with the pace of technology and the way the popularity of the league has exploded (the fact that 60 years ago is before the NFL took off on TV, before NFL Films, matters a lot), remembering a player today 50 years from now will be easier than remembering a player from 50 years ago is today.

Do you think baseball fans today remember players from the 1950s better than baseball fans in the 1950s remembered players from the 1890s? I'd wager yes.

Who cares about a bunch of old or dead athletes. They had their time or place.

Will be very interesting to see what the NFL looks like in 50 years.

I know a few old players as well but I'm not a casual fan. My point was most people who don't care about the game a ton; even the casual sunday viewer isn't going to know a ton of players from 50+ years because it really doesn't matter to them. The only sport where a ton of older players are well known is baseball and even then the list for most people is probably 5-10 players (Babe, Hank, Mantle, Dimaggio, etc.). Football, other than Joe Namath and maybe Bradshaw and Jim Brown most people aren't going to know many more players from 40-50+ years ago. From this era, I think the only players that might be memorable 50 years from now will be Brady, Peyton and maybe Rodgers and Watt (if he can stay on the field); Previously you have guys like Joe, Rice, LT, Reggie, Brett, Elway and Ray and I assume some of them will quickly fade into obscurity over time.

I would bet my entire net worth and family that the NFL does not exist in 50 years

Lol that's because ****** Canadians listen to Don Cherry. Goalies are about 7000000% more efficient now than when they were Kirk McLeaning it standing straight up. Old idiots love their terrible racist heroes - they were terrible and just Donatelloed everyone with their sticks. You have Gretzky, Lemieux and Orr - and then a bunch of small town skeets.

So Vance Joseph was abysmal last year as a D.C. The Broncos hire him and he is awful. What did they expect.

The Broncos are at home in Philly? It's hard to keep track of all the recent team movement.

Im ashamed of this Denver team..well mainly the offense. I think they are the worst offense in the league right now. They have scored 26 points in 3 games. Those are against 3 teams with losing records too with 2 of those games being at home and 1 basically on a neutral field in LA. It was criminal today watching Bosa and Ingram just go to town on their offensive line, just a straight up turnstyle especially at RT. At this point, even with this defense Id be surprised if they win 3 more games. Just a sad sad effort all around.

Denver's line is one of many around the league that is a disgrace

Where we thinking he lands? Was kind of wondering about Seahawks and Chiefs.
