yeah, it's almost as if context/situation matters a lot for QBs and reading their box score stats and drawing conclusions is insanely dumb

I imagine we'll get an ESPN movie about it all one day. Like Ricky Williams. Granted Ricky was great.

Redzone needs offense or it can be boring. Last weekend lacked offense. It was stuck on the same 2-3 games in the early period and didn't flip around a lot

Redzone was ok this week, the amount of hilarious turnovers made it worthwhile

This.

Agonizing while entertaining. It may be the best we can expect going forward.

Wager at your own risk!

So, how bad is Seattle's OL?

Seattle appears to have an extra OL in and a TE to block on this play.

Green Bay is in dime defense (6 DB's, 3 DL and 2 LB's).

Seattle ran the ball.

Seattle got stuffed at the line.

Of course college ratings are down too so I may be putting too much stock in redzone's culpability here. Also of note is that this decline is on top of last year's 8% decline.

guessing the areas of the US where football is most popular getting slammed by a hurricane had a negative impact

Meh it isn't really all that remarkable. One of the biggest changes in the game, since all the rule changes which assisted passing started going in, is that defenses can lock up run games now using nickel and sub personnel.

Those sorts of stops are somewhat routine and it's one of the big reasons RBs aren't all that valuable as players. There aren't many guys in the league who can make you pay for trotting out a safety or a good tackling CB instead of a LB and force you into a base D.

Only 2 DB are really playing deep in that shot. Looks like they have the weak side covered well against the run+that DB has a good shot at making a backfield tackle. If they can collapse everything into the middle, wide right looks like a possibility. Maybe motion that WR over to the left and then run right is a good play. But scheme-wise it looks like GB is setup well in that shot. I think the main problem ist that the overloaded right side isn't set up great. If you can use the TE and WR routes to draw away 24 and keep the DB at the bottom of the shot busy the extra lineman still is in a meh position to seal 55 for a run to that side (imo)

Also apart from the super confusing run blocking that SF used last season (basically INSIDE ZONE ALL DAY EVERY DAY from my layman's analysis) SEA was one of the more predictable running teams. They ran a ton of inside zone. But I think it's part of their philosophy to get cheap OL and try to coach them up. Im expecting improvements as the season goes on. Doesn't seem like the worst plan with Willson at QB. They looked like well managed chaos last season if that makes sense. I've seen the term Jazzband-OL somewhere last season and that seems pretty accurate (maybe sounds a bit nicer than what they actually delivered).

Edit:
Found the blocking chart...Needle should do a 2016 49ers-WTF-OL analysis imo

Kc dropped by owning NE on the road? Atlanta jumps a bunch by barely beating Chicago or am I reading this wrong?

Takes a few weeks for this to converge.

pretty sure there was some weird mid week version that it's counting as "last week". KC wasn't #1 prior to week 1 but I did see them at #1 on like tuesday. and now it's saying they were #2 before the season which im almost certain isn't true either.

Cardinals, Jaguars too low...Rams probably belong in the too low category as well but lolRams

I feel like the Bears don't belong in the total garbage category but am not too sure about it. Redskins also seem low compared to the rest of the division.

And I guess Bengals too high.

Seems like a good first guestimate though.

My top 5/6 right now would probably be
PIT
DAL
GB
NE
ATL/KC

Guess we strongly disagree about the Steelers. I think they are a very legitimate SB contender this season. I see them as the #1 team in the AFC right now. And since you think the Chargers are too low and I think they are too high we disagree there as well. Still superearly so what do I know but I always enjoy discussing team rankings

Danny Amendola still not out of concussion protocol, on what's probably his 5th concussion (but most likely he had a bunch in high school and college first). I kept thinking that his wife would be the first one to tell him to call it quits now to save whatever is left of his brain. Turns out he's not married, but this is his gf:

http://heavy.com/sports/2017/02/oliv...am-super-bowl/

She dated Nick Jonas and Tim Tebow. The odds of her sticking with Amendola post-career are literally 0%.

I feel bad for the dude, because I think in a different situation he hangs them up and probably becomes a really good wide receiver's coach. He's made 20m already give or take, and has rangs. I think it would be pretty tragic if he attempts to play again after all we've learned about CTE. I don't know why a 31 year old with money and rangs would do it. Other than trying to hold on to a chick that is still gonna leave when he retires later with half his brain working.
