That list is amazing tho, barely missed Ravens and Bills backups. Could add the retired broadcaster and recently unretired exBear, Jay Cutler. Or pretend that two rookies and Jared Goff exist only as upside!

I liked that onside kick. It's a bit less surprising than the typical surprise onside kick (t least I'd assume that season opening kicks should be high alert situations as should be opening kicks of playoff games) but still a lot more surprising than the default situations which means the success rate should be decent enough. It has the potential to be a great locker room booster and if it fails you'll also learn a lot about your team. Will they subtly blame you or are they fired up to bail you out because they love your aggressive call.

Tonight, Semien will be rolled out as will ALLEGED MVP CANDIDATE Samuel Bradford.

The bears, jets, and 49ers are actively trying to lose so I understand. The Colts, Texans, Vikings, and Broncos all have teams that could easily make the playoffs based on their situation (colts division plus eventually getting luck back) and have no excuse to be running these out there instead.

Shame.
Don't think Kaep's value over Bradford is that high. I see Bradford in the QB 16-20ish range. I think I might overrate him though because I am a sucker for completion%age (+I'm an OU homer but I tend to be fairly objective).
My general feeling is that Kaep is a good QB but seems a bit overrated ITT because he's underrated by the NFL...if that makes sense.

From memory Hoyer is serviceable as well (obviously worse than Bradford) but I haven't paid much attention to his game 1.

---

The most noticeable thing QB wise so far for me was how badly Cam played. I think it had to do with his shoulder but I'll pay closer attention the next couple of weeks.

Cam's shoulder may still be bothering him but I think he's just rusty from not practicing with the team for the last several months. It's unbelievable they didn't shut him down in December last season and get that surgery done in 2016 instead of waiting until spring of this year.

His INT was very slightly under thrown though it beat the corner but a very good play by the safety to high point it with one hand and pull it in. It was a typically horrible play by the 6'5" Benjamin who despite having position failed to adjust and tried to let the ball fall into his hands rather than going to high point it. There's a dozen WR's in the NFL who easily make that catch or draw a deserved DPI call when the safety crashes into him if he'd slowed up half a step and jumped to snatch the ball.

He's got Benjamin and Funchess as his WR1 and WR2. He's not getting any help from his wideouts though he's used to that ever since Steve Smith departed.

Probably a slight dog at this point. Hou looks awful, Indy is dead until Luck returns.

Tenn is still considered better than them but then you've got WC equity as well.

Luck's already ruled out for next week with no timetable, they should really just shut Luck down for the year then trade number 1 to the Jets. Colts vs Browns week 3!

Ah, was under the impression they were when they let Jeffrey go for a one year deal and signed Mike Glennon to be their QB while they wait for their QB to be ready. I admit I don't keep up with the bears very much.

The main point was Mike Glennon is terrible though so that stands hopefully lol

@clown

I didn't see the onside attempt, but logically the best possession to minimize the negative effects of an onside kick is the first. Agree that in this spot the positive intangible/locker room stuff outweigh the negative ones. Unlike Sean Payton calling super minus ev timeouts lol. Actually the worst outcomes were achieved in both cases as the other team hit paydirt

As a default I'm curious what belicheks stats/history has been with onsides. Seems like a smart coach would base it on the kicker and the ability to execute/cover a specific play. I think some teams suck at this concept, and that in general hurts the overall percentages/perceptions

This warms my heart about Dalton: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...aign=editorial

The Cincinnati Bengals are not a good football team, and Andy Dalton—who signed a six-year, $96 million contract extension in 2014—is not a good starting quarterback. It's that simple, and Dalton and his teammates provided us with plenty of evidence Sunday.

Gonna be a snail race to the top. I think Titans=Jaguars>Colts>Texans but the first three feel fairly close. I got the Titans slightly ahead due to a higher potential ceiling but Jaguars probably with a more reliable baseline.
Bet it before the season [also post #5]. They are kind of obviously about the same team as Houston except Marrone is merely half the idiot O'Brien is.
Indy obv. hot garbage - they may be so hopeless by the time Luck is ready that they just shut him down. Plus by rule they have to get the 1st pick whenever it's especially good to have.
Titans reek of last year's Jags. Gotten a ton of credit without ever doing a thing. Oakland is the perfect game for a good up&coming team/qb to impress people; much more winnable than NE or Seattle but a win still looks good. And they score 23 points total in 2 home games these last 2yrs vs a garbage defense in pristine weather. Enough with the Mariotta crowning.

He missed a bunch of throws by a good margin (usually high) that game. I think he's fine and agree that they handled the injury problems very badly. But still something to keep an eye out for.

I feel like a QB guru all of a sudden after defending Smith and Bradford and saying the Stafford contract is fine :P

Yeah, Kaep never had the accuracy that Bradford is showing.

It's an interesting game. The Bills coach knows the Carolina roster and schemes so who knows what'll happen.

Is anyone saying that? I feel like most people think they both suck. I think they're both pretty good; I thought I was just about the only one.

That wasn't just a lolSaints thing either; Bradford was dropping ridiculously accurate dimes deep downfield that nobody could have covered.

However, there were some fun lolSaints moments last night:

-Shadowing the team's #1 receiver with the cornerback at the bottom of your depth chart. (Said receiver went 7-94-2)

-Inexplicably covering the team's #2 receiver downfield with a linebacker, more than once. (9-157)

-Dropping your best pass rusher into coverage, more than once. (He actually looked pretty good, but you know what's more important than putting a 290-pound pass rusher in coverage? Pass rushing.)

-Getting first-and-goal with Drew Brees and Michael Thomas and running three straight run plays. (Total Michael Thomas targets in the red zone last night: 0)

-On a third-and-goal situation where the game is out of reach if you don't score a TD, running a one-route pass designed for an old running back who had 240 catches in 123 career games to date before last night.

We should rename this thread, something like "Can Kaep play QB in the NFL?" Then start another thread to discuss the NFL 2017 regular season.

Yeah I don't get the obsession over a QB who's not even playing and is mediocre at best. We might as well spend our time discussing JFF.
