Playoffs!?!?

This is a tough game to call because I think it's hard to predict which team will show up for both sides. I will take the more experienced, less horribly coaches team in a close game 21-17.

Copied from previous thread:

Philly and Minnesota are the exact same team. A solid defense, a great RB, an extremely mediocre QB, and a terrible coach. I'll take the home team to advance.

And then explaining the "extremely mediocre" remark concerning McNabb:

"I didn't say he's bad or anything. I just think he's a middle of the pack QB. Sure, he usually puts up good numbers, but I think anyone could in that offense (West Coast swinging to Westy). If you recall, the offense performed well with AJ Feely a while back, and didn't miss a beat with Garcia (who is a mediocre QB).

I'm not saying he sucks, or that they can't win with him. I'm just saying he's an average quarterback"

lol

anyway - I take Philly by a touchdown.

Though Minny has great D, Childress will seal the deal for a Philly victory.

I don't really think my argument is "lol" worthy considering that AJ Feely, Jeff Garcia, and I think I'm missing one more have all put up rather good numbers in the system as well.

Again, I'm not trying to say McNabb is bad, I just don't think he's good.

Reid makes a lot of boneheaded decisions, but I think we all know Childress is dumber.

And McNabb really is considerably better than Tavaris Jackson, and AP really suffers from having 8 in the box on him every single play.

Philly by a FG, mostly because the Vikings have home field.

If McNabb is a top 10 QB, he is good (not great, but good). Name 10 quarterbacks better than McNabb.

I think AP might get the ball 30 times this game.

Minnesota by 7.

Philly's secondary is playing great right now as well, I'd expect some huge plays by them.

The Vikings will fail. Tavaris Jackson, ADP fumbling, Brad Childress, there are so many ways they can lose this. The Eagles will be ready and they'll win this, but lose to the Giants.

Eagles but IF the Vikings start Tavaris Jackson I'd say they have a good shot

Oh, yes McNabb is considerably better than Jax. I guess my range of "mediocre" is just much larger than most.

I consider QBs like Delhomme, Garcia, McNabb, Pennington, Romo, Flacco, Schaub, Gerrard, Warner, Hasselbeck, etc to be average.

I don't think you'd see much of a dropoff for any of their teams if you replaced one with another. If that's the case, I consider them to be "average". I think the incorrect part of my statement is saying Jax is "average", when in reality he is "bad with streaks of mediocrity" rather than saying McNabb is average.

If Philly had any of those QBs I listed, do you think they'd be much worse off? I don't.

i don't think teams are going to be able to cram 8 guys in the box against T-Jack much longer. at the beginning of the year, yeah, thats the obvious way to play it but T-Jack has shown a lot of improvement since coming back. If Berrian can get single coverage as a result of the defense putting 8 in the box, T-Jack can hit him on a big play like he has the last couple of games. T-Jack may not be great but he has improved a lot since the beginning of the year and every snap he takes in a game he seems to get more confidence. plus, Shiancoe (sp?) is becoming a huge asset to T-Jack. since i'm from MN, i'm gonna say Vikes by 3-4 points, 24-20 or something like that. If the Dome is like anything like it was today, the home field advantage is going to help a lot. it was so god damn loud in there in today.

But if my argument is that he's a mediocre QB who benefits from a system, how would throwing his stats at me prove a point? I've said that he's put up great numbers. I also said Garcia put up numbers very similar.

My argument isn't that McNabb is bad, but rather that he is an average QB. If I define "average" QB to be that the team isn't significantly better with him than with a league average QB (view list in a post or two above), how would showing he put up 3000+ yards a bunch of times show me to be incorrect? Especially when the numbers were very good for other QBs while taking over for him during one of his many injuries?

Wow Halpert, that's one of the dumbest list of "mediocre" QBs I've ever seen

So I guess only Tom Brady is a good QB, huh?

This? How many QBs do you think in the league are good?

Nah.

Great:
Brady
Peyton
Brees

Good:
Eli
Rivers
Cutler
Favre (Probably need to move him down to mediocre now .. but still the team won 9 games with him as opposed to 4 w/o. And yes, Im aware of the other additions, but I can't exactly compare it QB level can I?)
Big Ben
Ryan

I mean thats 9 QBs who I think are better than everyone I listed earlier. Close ones being Ryan (due to youth), Favre (Now), and Ben (Inability to get rid of the ball .. but his OL doesnt help him either)

-- these defenses are very good, not just solid
-- mcnabb is easily an above average qb. it's amazing how underrated he is. i think he is definitely a top 10 qb, maybe top 8

the offenses performed reasonably well w/the backups but they were not as good as they were w/mcnabb

Let me rephrase. I'm not saying those I listed as "average" are bad quarterbacks at all. I'm just saying that I think any of them can be replaced by any of the others and the team wouldn't suffer.

I think if you replace any from the "Great" or "Good" list (again, probably minus Favre now) with one from the "Average" list, the team would be significantly worse.
