agreed. And just like it's funny that some people thought Aaron Brooks was a better QB than Eli.
One huge factor for both Mannings is that they have played every game.
EVERY game!
This amazing stat may be attributed to many factors.
Maybe luck is the biggest factor, as anyone playing in the NFL, especially QB, is gonna need some luck to not be seriously injured. And no doubt the teams have tried to build an offensive line that protected the QB,
But it has to be more than just that.
Maybe watching Archie get pummelled year after year with the saints impressed upon them the importance of moving up in the pocket, having an internal clock that tells them to get rid of the ball, and being in condition to take the abuse and play every game.
I've seen both Peyton and Eli take some ridiculous hits- especially back when Eli was skinny with the Rebels, and Peyton's rookie season with the Colts.
And they always have gotten up for the next play.
Something in their makeup. Last night was an example- the Titans got a penalty for late hit on the QB (some questioned the call). But when the play was over, Peyton was trotting up the field while the two defensive players were laying on the field.
They are just much tougher than they look. I remember a few years back Eli getting knocked out of the game, and the projection was that he would be out for weeks. (broken neck possibly) He started the next week and played well.
I know I'm not objective, I grew up with Archie as my sports hero (he still is).
And I know they've had plenty of games where they were bad,
but it certainly is enjoyable for me to see them having so much success.
And I do believe that when he's done, Peyton will be considered the greatest QB to ever play football.
And hopefully Eli will have more rings!
