The hypothesis that Brady and Manning's "true" career INT rates are identical fails the chi-squared test with 93% confidence (i.e. if they really were identical, then there's only a 7% chance that the difference in their INT rates would be as wide or wider than it is).

So you say that Peyton getting worse field position is better for his stats, then you say cite his TD/INT ratio as evidence for being worse than Brady. Fascinating fable, friend.

shouldn't the career stats be comparing Brady vs Manning at Brady's current age or same # of seasons played?

Manning is only a year older, there is not going to be a whole lot of ground made up by Brady after Peyton hangs it up.

are there people here who would really pick Manning over Brady in any situation?

in a playoff game?
if you have 1 game to win?
vs a top defense?
in a bad weather game?

i find it very hard to believe. Don't let your hatred of Brady cloud your judgment.

Discussing Manning/Favre would be a better comparison.

Brady/Montana would make more sense.

I think if these 2 guys played in different eras they would not be compared like this.

that's probably true, but seems like Manning having played 63 more games needs to be accounted for.

if manning & brady did not play at the exact same time, they would not be compared nearly as much.

in what situation would you take Manning over Brady?

It's also worth noting that Manning and the Colts couldn't win a Superbowl until the Colts president (member of nfl competition committee) pushed through a point of emphasis on illegal contact penalties, basically changing the rules in the NFL.

It essentially changed the entire NFL and this is why you see insane passing numbers now.

Manning couldn't win so his own team's president changed the rules. I would assume this would lower his stock, no?

Considering that Mannings AY/A in postseason starts is .8 higher than Brady, Ill take manning in pretty much all situations.

so you prefer stats over winning?

this is exactly my point. Brady haters will search for stats that favor manning and ignore stats that favor Brady and pretend that winning isn't the most important thing.

are you going to share their Pro Bowl stats next?

No rule was changed. They just got the rule to actually be called.
Funny how Pats fans love to bring this up all the time, but whenever someone mentions the tuck rule game they cling to the ' but by the rules its the right call...' defense.

PLO8FaceKilla, you seem to think that Manning = the whole Indianapolis Colts team and that Brady = the whole New England Patriots team. They're not. There are other players on the team.

Thank me later.

What stats favor Brady, having a much better defense?

They call it a "point of emphasis" to avoid having to call it a rule change. Keep in mind the man behind it is employed by the Colts. Don't you think they did this carefully?

you can go compare the passing stats of nfl teams and players prior to 2004 and after 2004 if you want. i think the evidence is pretty obvious.

However you choose to word it, a colts employee changed the way the nfl games are played (and called by refs). That's a fact.

The difference in rings is not explained by the difference in QB play.

If you swapped Manning and Brady in 2001 they Pats still have more SB rings.

Swap Nick Harper and Ty Law instead and things might look a whole lot different.

not at all. But if you want to look at the players surrounding both QBs, Manning has had far superior offensive talent.

all you can do at this point is compare their stats and accomplishments.

If "winning" and having good stats is important to you, than you choose Brady. There should be no debate.

If all you care about is popularity, stats, and mvp awards. And winning isn't important. you can choose manning.

It depends on your preference. I will not debate this with someone who thinks winning doesn't matter. There would be no point.

again, i will share this link. i think its settled.
