sure yes. the point is - it's silly to pretend there is a massive gap between these 2. there was a huge stat gap at one point, then Brady had basically closed it by 2011 ish, then Peyton exploded again. Then Brady's career was done this year, until it wasn't.

the difference in ANY/A could easily be explained by context, stadium, etc - just look at each guys career numbers indoors vs outdoors. And you could counter that with other arguments about Brady having BB etc. the point is it's not such a huge gap that you're a mouthbreather if you think it's close.

Sure, there's a ton of stats to sort through. Something kind of interesting, Brady has 6 of 13 seasons above 7 ANY/A, Manning has 11 of 16 seasons above that mark (including this current year where both currently are, and should finish, above 7). Brady has 3 seasons above 8 ANY/A, Manning has 4. Manning is the only one to crest 9, 2004 LDO where he posted a 9.78

Crazy how good both of their peaks were. People downplay WRs a lot but Marvin was at the height of his powers in 2004 and Moss was finally handed to a coach that got it in 2007.

the margin really is not slim at all. it sucks bc Brady is undoubtedly an all-time great so it seems like "hating", but he really is just not in Manning's league. agreed it's an insanely dumb argument, but watching these two dumbasses try to make an argument is unbelievably amusing. what are the odds that the combined age of gs/cornboy is higher than their combined IQ? pretty good right?
Are you referring to sports IQ or actual IQ?

This "debate" has reached a point where I can't tell if the people on the extremes of either side genuinely believe what they are saying or are trolling in an attempt to make their opponents look worse.

Does this have a name yet? Can we call it The Colbert Zone?

This imo. It just seems like Tommy can never win the big games when it really matters. He can't even beat Sanchez or Plummer much less Eli. Heck he'd be 0-3 vs Flacco at home if not for a Lee Evans drop.

Brady would be 4-1 in the superbowl if not for a Welker drop.

This stuff drives me bonkers. Of course it's close. I mean, what measuring barometer are you using that gives you any indication that the margin is not close? I can't possibly wrap my head around that.

One play doesn't decide games. If Brady made enough plays so his record breaking offense could score more than 14 points, he might have had a few more rings. But it's all could've, would've. Joe Montana threw 0 picks in the superbowl. He made sure he crushed opposition. He didn't put up 14 points through 58 mins in the game so he can count on his receivers to make 100% of the plays in the finals seconds.

The fact is Brady's worse than Montana in big games. His record against Manning brothers in the biggest games is negative 3. His playoff QB rating is also worse than Flacco. In the last decade Flacco, Roethlisberger, Eli have more rings than Brady. Brady's rings have all come when his team's superior defense carried him home. Once Brady got good in the regular season, his playoff game started slipping.

In fairness to Brady, despite his post season struggles once he became a great passer, he'll still be remembered as a very good regular season QB.

The problem with your first two paragraphs is that although you're right that Brady could have done more to win those games, if Welker had caught that ball and tyree had dropped that ball, you wouldn't have written the second paragraph. And there just has to be something wrong with that situation.

No. The other guy replied to the Welker drop post talking about the 07 Offense

In life, variance can cover up flaws for some lucky individuals. Take Terry Bradshaw - his stats are average as they get even for his era QB but he is 4-0 in superbowls. People are too results oriented in life. So, Brady would've benefited from this results oriented thinking even if he only managed 14 and 17 points against NY Giants and sitting back and have clueless people analyze 1 play out of 100s

Well, he put up only 17 freaking points before that drop. Either way, he should've done more earlier in the game so Eli Manning's offense can't beat his total.

if eli manning wasn't peytons brother pats would win in 07 and 11

but eli was avenging peyton because peyton is unable to beat brady on his own. you can't compete against a brothers revenge

Agreed and that's my point. If those two plays had gone differently, your second paragraph in the other post wouldn't have been written. So, you've fallen into the same trap that you describe above. That's the problem you're having.

Peyton is 2-1 against Brady in the AFC championship games and this includes the biggest comeback in playoff history back in '06. Since these 2 play in AFC, they can't play on a bigger stage.

I didn't fall in the same trap. I wouldn't have written anything not because I didn't see the logic but because it'd be a waste of time arguing with people who'll never understand variance.

Lets be real here. In a Manning vs Brady thread a record breaking offense scoring 14 pts in a superbowl is a win.

Peyton also has 8 one and dones in the playoffs so he has the edge over Brady there too!

Dude, this is what you wrote:

Other than the small part about QB rating, this entire paragraph is about record. It wouldn't make any sense whatsoever if those two plays had gone differently. Hence, it makes you're overlying theme a contradiction.
