Brady played a much tougher schedule than Cassell did. Cassel got to the play the NFC and AFC West while Brady got the NFC East and not sure what AFC division. Cassel I think went 7-1 against the easy divisions and 4-4 against the rest of their schedule. It's misleading to think that Brady isn't >>> Cassel--btw I don't really like Brady that much.

What doesn't help his cause is that Cassel looked very good in that system and mediocre or worse in other situations.
Matt Casell 2008 ANY/A: 6.0
Matt Cassell 2010: ANY/A: 6.6

his simple y/a was pretty close this year too. people are practicing selective memory

well I don't know what people are sorting by when they say 2008 Cassell ruled, 2010 Cassell drooled

his 2009 wasn't good, sure, but I would say for Cassell its easily 2010 > 2008 > 2009

I thought "tho" was the obvious sarcasm term. I can't keep up with this ****.

In any case, I liked your post before you edited in the 99 Rams, because I was going to say "What do those elite offenses (04 IND, 07/10 NE) have in common?"

Inclusion of the Rams doesn't really change anything though, football is fluky.

well that's the difference b/t calling someone one of the best vs definitively the best ever so it's worth noting

edit: beside the point though

Of course he is. I don't think anyone's saying Cassel = Brady.

I would have to look, but my guess is if you sort by 1st half Points or 1st Half Offensive DVOA or something, the 2007 and 2010 Pats still come out historically elite. which is really the point, whether they are 1st or 3rd best all time doesnt really matter. what matters is thats a gigantic difference between where they were in 2008, which clark was trying to marginalize

seems like cassel's performances this season were heavlly skewed (as in moreso than usual) against some crap pass defenses

chiefs w/15th ranked passing game by dvoa. given this ranking and their run game (9th) hard to believe that cassell was good

edit: also i think he had a bunch of garbage stats in the denver game

Am I missing something when I look at Cassell's stat line this year? 417 attempts in 14 games and 27 TDs with only 5 INTs?

I realize he had Jones and JC running for 9 YPC or whatever and that Bowe had his career year, but this stinks of outlier to me.

Actually, ITT your ignoring all regular season games and every single one of the 14 postseason wins and 3 superbowls and only focusing on the 5 playoffs losses.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense. PERFECT.

Goodie, are you aware that teams can't get more than one loss in a single playoffs, but can get multiple wins?

Regular season games are irrelevant in this discussion. At least, they always have been when Brady supporters discuss Manning.

I'm focusing entirely on his last 5 years as a pro, the prime years of his career, when he was put in a similar role to Manning and we have an apples-to-apples comparison. Frankly, he's underperformed by about as much as seems conceivable and arguably should've had 3 rings in that timeframe.

and has been noted in this thread we have now twice seen manning outperform him against the same defense

3 Straight playoff losses and two of them were as double digit favorites. Brady sucks. Manning GOAT. End of story.
