Haley out!

He had to go if for no other reason there was a disconnect with Ben.

I'd just let Ben have a big influence on the next OC - if he wants the QB coach Fitchner, that's probably fine.

score 42 against one of the best defenses itl, fire the OC

Like even if he has the OC job locked up, not sure how you turn down an HC job? I'm sure your family can be perfectly happy if you move them to Phoenix & have an extra few million per year.
Well either he saw what they did to Arians and went eh, no or I know this is weird to say but there are people in this world who value things over money and he might have enough that the extra few mil doesn't mean much for him.

They didn't fire him...just allow his contract to expire gracefully.

What did they do to Arians? Why go on a 1st interview then? Seems more likely that his camp is putting out rumors they are interested, but it is he who is turning them down.

Sure, some things are more important than money. Living in Pittsburgh isn't one of them.

The only difference between those two is they don't have to pay him anything to make him go away.

Well, that & they can't really require him to work so if he actually wants to go somewhere else he could. I agree, though, there is not an actual distinction in this case, & I was mostly joking.

LOL at calling Tomlin a terrible coach, he's only won 48 games the last 4 years, 2 AFC titles, a SB and never had a losing season, a playoff making machine. So what if he's BB's *****? The whole league except for Eli is BB's *****.

I'll concede his in game decisions and clock management can be shaky but he brings an aura that other coaches don't have. He's cool, hip, with it, a winner. He's one of the guys and today's entitled players love that. They will run through a wall for him. He's not coaching guys like Lambert, Tatum or Lott. Do you think divas like Antonio Brown or Bell are going to stand for being coached by some authoritarian prick? He reminds me of Pete Carroll, stays positive at all times. The AFC is owned by the Pats and if you are looking for someone to take them down lots of luck.

not for nothing but Tomlin seems like a massive dumbass

bug-eyed Jim Caldwell standing there on the sideline with his headset on not saying anything, simultaneously looking confused and like he's about to vomit

every time i've seen him speak it's as if he has no idea what he's about to say before he says it, but he's gotten this far in life by using maximum confidence to blind morans to the fact that the words coming out of his mouth are mostly nonsense #YOLO

Sounds like the exact argument put forth by mouth breathing Packer fans who think Fat Mike is a good coach because of his win percentage/8 straight years in the playoffs/etc.

Jets fire OC

seems like a mistake, simply because of the cast of the Jets offense and Josh McCown being the only QB who isn't worthless on the entire roster + whatever the hell they're calling a WR group. Despite this, the Jets weren't AIDS.

I was coming here to make a similar post. I mean, it wasn't good (28th in yards, 24th in points), but it could have been worse. Looks like they have their eyes on Haley & think they can upgrade, or might promote QBC Jeremy Bates.

I agree with this. So much about coaching is player management and franchise leadership stuff that we don’t see and it’s clear that he excels in these areas

Two many two plus two GMs basically believe that only B.B. and Godgers are beyond reproach and just want to lol at or fire people who aren’t them.

I wouldn't fire Tomlin. Also wouldn't have fired Marty. Would fire Fat Mike in a heartbeat.

Yup agree. Jets seemed to overachieve as much as any of the bad teams this year and McCown had a sneaky ok year

I can't remember if folks successfully guessed all the answers to the "rookie teammates to make the pro bowl" question, so I'll post the three duos that did it (besides Kamara / Lattimore) in spoilers, from most to least obvious:

Spoiler:
2016: Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott

Spoiler:
2011: Andy Dalton, A.J. Green

Spoiler:
2012: Matt Kalil, Blair Walsh

New question: Before Blake Bortles did it two weeks ago, can you name the last three QBs to defeat the Buffalo Bills in a playoff game?

As anti-Tomlin a guy as I have been, I have to say it’s been interesting watching Barnwell on Twitter talking about the numbers behind Tomlin’s record as head coach. His overall numbers are pretty good, and the only guy ahead of him in many ways is BB. Of course, there’s way more to coaching than record, but I guess it’s something.

I guess I’ll just be satisfied that they finally ****canned Haley. Praise baby jeebus.
