There are mixed reports about whether the Titans have a chance to take Josh McDaniels away from the Colts, but apparently he's the 1st choice for both teams.

Only person interviewed for the Titans job so far is Mike Vrabel. Titans GM came from Pats tree.

I think I'd prefer the Titans job to the Colts job for lots of reasons, including owner, roster depth, Indianapolis, & QB health.

So of all the terrible Browns coaches, is the Shurmur the worst or the second worst after Hue? Went down the memory hole that is the bad coaching thread, and I have to say it seems as bad as I remember. Am I going to be longing for Brylcreem Boy by midseason?

Man, would I love to see a breaking news alert come across my phone saying that the Steelers have fired the entire coaching staff.

McDaniels to the Colts is now being reported. At least they already have a strong GM in place.

Mularkey being out is even funnier given that ownership yesterday announced they were going to extend him. Like literally all he had to do was make changes to his staff to actually develop Mariota and the young talent and use it properly, and he was like "Hell no." Way to be so stubborn you got yourself fired after winning a playoff game.

This crossed my mind this morning when I saw the Mularkey headline. Might Tomlin's job be in jeopardy? With all the talent on their roster, their recent playoff performances (when they qualified) are pitiful.

Tomlin’s never getting fired. They’ll scapegoat everyone else first.

FFFFFF UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

i'm not sure who I should be routing for at this point as there doesn't seem to be any decent options. I guess McDaniels is as good as we can hope for? I do hope CHUD stays as OC even with how bad our 2nd half offense was this year.

Why in the world would you want the Steelers to blow up their staff? Despite yesterday's disappointment they still went 13-3 and secured a first round bye. Over the past 2-3 seasons Tomlin has overseen a complete rebuild of the defense. That unit has gone from the very bottom of the league to top 10 in just a couple of seasons. The offense has been top 5-10 in the league despite some of their best players almost always being out with injuries or suspensions.

This staff is doing an excellent job of developing its talent, and that's more +EV than any picayune in-game decision that this forum loves to ***** and moan about.

If anyone needs to go it would be Haley. The play calling in high leverage situations seems to be either FPS (like trying to run sweeps on 4th and short yesterday when Bell was gashing the Jags D up the middle and Ben was carving up the secondary) or excessively conservative (going run-run-pass-punt when they had a chance to close out NE).

Seeing reports that some Raiders QBs coach is expected to be the OC...

I don’t think we’re watching the same team here. There is one coach on staff that has made a difference, and that’s Munchak with the O-line. I’m pretty sure Bud Dupree has regressed, and I’m not sure how much Watt improved over the year. The secondary without Haden was a dumpster fire.

But really, you can’t think Tomlin is a good coach, can you? How many games do they have to lose as massive favorites before you lay some blame at Tomlin’s feet? They seem to never be prepared. Yes, I know it will never happen. Still doesn’t make me want it any less.

And yes, if Tomlin stays and Haley goes, that’s a snap call. I’ll take what I can get.

both Colts and Titans jobs are way above average for HC jobs that come open

I would take Colts jobs based on GM and Andrew the Giant very definitely still having the potential to be an A1 SB winning QB. Plus...more opportunity to make an immediate difference in first year than inheriting a 10-6 team that won a playoff game, even if they were about the worst 10-6, playoff game winning team I can remember

I mean they lost the heart and soul of their defense in Shazier. People seem to be under-estimating this severely. They scored 42 points against arguably the best defense in the NFL and still lost. The two turnovers cost them 14 points. Still, giving up 31 to the Jags is more of an indictment on the defense more than anything to be honest.

Either Shurmur or Wilks as the Giants HC.

Both are pretty unappealing picks. To be fair Shurmur's experience with HC was in an impossible situation (Browns). So maybe he's a good HC but the Browns sunk him.

For the old boy's club that is NFL coaching Tomlin is fine. Anyone they might actually be able to get to replace him would be a favorite to be substantially worse. Sometimes the in-game is bad, but that's true of everyone.

I did look up Tomlin's record when favored, and the Steelers are slightly below the league average, but the difference wasn't stark enough for me to be certain there's anything to it.

I'm not certain on what basis you think Dupree has regressed. He was never any good to begin with. Watt was fine for a rookie, but he'll probably need to get stronger if he wants to be a 10+ sack per season guy. The Steelers no longer rely so heavily on their OLBs to get pressure, so I'm not certain this is a significant problem going forward. If anything I'm more disappointed that Tuitt hasn't developed into a better player given the flashes he can show.

The secondary is full of middling players, I'd expect them to be bad if they lose the only good one they have. That being said they did have a 4 INT game against TEN when Haden was out.

Steelers were 30th in defensive DVOA in 2014, 13th in 2015, 11th in 2016, and 9th in 2017. That is significant improvement over multiple seasons, and it was done almost entirely with drafted players. Fielding a top 10 unit with the talent on the roster is an accomplishment, imo.

lol'ing at Aaron Rodgers dating Danica Patrick

It's pretty clear he's just a loser and if it wasn't for luckboxing a cutlah injury he'd have never won a super bowl.

Goes from Erin Andrews to Olivia Munn to Danica Patrick.

Packers should trade him since these playoffs show QBs don't matter and he's clearly going through a decline on and off the field.

Yeah, Shanahan gave some quote about letting him pursue his dreams to coordinate a defense again or something.
