I can't imagine there is an owner in this league that would allow their front office to pay that much money to someone who would be the backup QB even if it was the right thing to do.

Kinda feel like this is just Polian wanting to stick it to the Patriots for only getting a 2nd rounder for Football Jimmy G.

Vikes got a 1st, 3rd, 7th for Harvin who had 1 year left on his deal. Harvin had thrown a barbell at Childress and been sent home (to Florida) and told not to come back. Then after giving up the picks Seattle signed him to a contract that made him the highest paid player on the team.

If 2+ teams badly want a player the original team doesn't need to play hardball. I have no idea what the market will be for Foles but Philly has a very easy argument for keeping him. He gets paid backup money and their franchise player is coming off a week 14 ACL+LCL tear that they may want to be extra cautious with. Hes not getting moved for something weak like a 3rd unless it is a thank you gift from the Eagles to Foles. Obviously 2 1sts is a joke. A good 2nd seems somewhat likely.

When Peyton got injured the Colts were immediately the worst team in the league speaks more volumes than people recognize.

The Muscle Hamster gets released by the Bucs. Weird that they don’t want to pay $7m for less than 3 yards a carry

I got a series of group texts about how awesome this news was for some guy who owns Peyton Barber in our dynasty league. I lol'd at him heartily.

Jaguars opt-in for Marcedes Lewis one more year. They really need to upgrade at TE, especially if they aren't upgrading at QB at the moment. But...sentimentally, Marcedes is a top 6 Jaguar of all time for me(Tony Boselli, Maurice Jones-Drew, Marcus Stroud, John Henderson, and Rashean Mathis). Also it's very cheap, like 3.75 I think I saw.

Probably won't start every game like this year but glad to see him back.

That season is why I'm convinced Peyton was the GOAT. Even the Packers this season managed to win a few games without Rodgers, and Hundley was terrible. If the Pats were forced to roll with Hoyer for 16 games I'd bet they'd still win 9-10. No one carried a bad team as well as Manning did his last few seasons in Indy.

benjarvis greenlandry getting franchised is a hoot

I guess when your QB can't throw deep might as well sign a receiver who can't go deep

I was surprised they only have 16M or so since they were always just behind cle/sf somewhere but I also presume they'll get rid of Allen Hurns's 7M this year (zero dead money). There's also a fair # of TE's making more than he is that aren't much better if that--TE is a weird market out there. They're not gonna miss 3M either way and he's not a total bum (imo) so whatever.

Dolphins franchised Landry.

You have made a mistake.

Marcedes Lewis will have made $50m by the end of next season

Pretty good going for a guy who has averaged 30 catches for 380 yards and 2.8 TDS a year

Jets reportedly going to godfather offer Cousins including $60m for the first year.

Titans re-sign Succop 5-$20m-$7.5m

Honestly, if the Jets are doing that and talking about it then they're really dumb. There's been so much 'the Jets LOVE Kirk' talk, that imo, it's more likely a smokescreen

Well, they can't talk to Cousins right now, why not leak how happy you're going to make him?

It's draft pick leaks that should never be real.

I like Barber but I definitely can see the Bucs drafting Barkley or Guice at #7.

Unless they're setting the browns up to gape themselves. The Cousins situation will be interesting.

Awesome move by the Dolphins. Should always try to over pay for a slow slot receiver. Dolphins are 16-3 when Lolandry has 6 targets or less and 14-31 when he 7 or more. That is a talent you have to keep.

There's no chance they don't bring a guy in to start, either in FA or draft. If they were that into Barber, he wouldn't have been sharing time with Martin, Jacquizz & Sims... worst RB group in the league. He's a JAG, they'll get a guy. The formality of not paying DMart doesn't change that.

Not surprised, but still slightly aghast that Ryan Shazier wants to play football again.

Warmed though by my perception of the his financial situation. Because Steelers had picked up his 5th year option and those options are guaranteed for injury, he'll be paid the full $8.7m in 2018. Correct? (assume this counts against the cap?)

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsburg...shazier-14424/

of course, he would have made far more if he'd stayed healthy and signed a deal this offseason but at least this is a great amount for him to set himself up with if he doesn't play football again. Maybe he also had an insurance policy either personally or with the Steelers that will add to the 8.7
