assuming skins hope one of the top 4 QBs drop to them at 14, probably not too likely.

i wonder who the player they shipped is? Like smith has 1 year left on contract and you trade picks + a player for him? Lol

So the deal isn't "offical" but Washington can already sign him to an extension. This makes sense.

I wonder if the Redskins have an extension worked out with Smith. Otherwise they could have just spent draft capital & a mystery player to punt their problem one year down the road.

Seems suboptimal. Not like they're ready to compete. Going to preemptively lol Redskins & congratulate the Chiefs.

Smiff is better than Cousins, top notch TE, elite LT. Not a bad spot at all.

that said, I don't see it as big enough of an upgrade to contend. KC would be smart to get a pass rusher back in that trade.

Trades like that don't get made with one year left on contract without a contingency agreement to extend the contract (or know they're gonna just franchise him if it doesn't work anyway)

So instead of giving a 29 year old Cousins a decent contract, trying to sign some other FA QB, drafting a QB, or some combo of those, the Redskins give up a 1st + some to trade for 33 year old Smiff.

Amazing.
