Jets trading down so early. Why not wait until draft day to pull the trigger? What if the QB they want isn't there?

I would love to see the Giants trade down just to **** over the Jets. They can get a king's ransom for their pick.

thought signing teddy AND mccown was funny. trading up 3 spots for uncertain QB from terribad QB class for a million 2nd rounders is hilarious cherry on top.

There's no Luck, Cam, or even RG3 sprint to the podium guy but still reasonably good.

I don’t get why he’s not getting more looks
Teams can make an offer and the Saints can match. If no one offers I think Snead's options are basically sign the tender or don't play.

What if someone beats them to trading up and they don't get the chance at all, and thus miss out on the QB they want?

Holy **** the NFLPA is terrible. Worst union ever.
I haven't listened to that podcast yet; the NFLPA possibly should have attained a higher % of revenue but the common refrain about guaranteed contracts is mistaken imo. (You didn't specify what the NFLPA has done wrong)

NFL players get a % of revenue. Some contract money is guaranteed and the rest is dependent on e.g. being on roster, meeting certain performance incentives. If contracts were fully guaranteed, injured/less able players would be paid relatively more, and still-contributing players would get less money. Guaranteed contracts don't increase % of revenue to players it just gives a relatively higher % to past-it players who in the current model would be cut with a lot of contract money freed up for other players.

80% of the time "it's a terrible QB class". A gm can't wait for manning/luck years.

now you might wonder then why the heck did they resign mccown and sign bridgewater

hell if I know, maybe they figure you throw enough darts maybe they'll actually hit one.

$10 million to McCown was astounding, how was there possibly that kind of market for him

Ah interesting re: Snead. Still somewhat surprised no one has seemingly made an offer. I know they let Coleman walk tho so maybe he’s back with NO.

Signing bridgewater to a 1 year deal THEN signing mccown and immediately declaring him the starter THEN giving up so much to move up 3 picks that both mccown and bridgewater who are free agents after the season are entirely irrelevant is definitely the sequence of moves of an organization who has no ****ing idea what they’re doing

The part I didn't know is that teams only have to spend 89% of the baseline cap, not their actual cap. The Browns have a cap of like $235 million, but only have to spend 89% of $177 million. GJGE, DeMaurice.

And yet we all said the same thing about Philly two years ago signing Sam and Chase Daniel and then trading up

If Titans sign Suh they might ship it this upcoming year.

Think I'd still loljets if they did this on draft day, but super loljets for doing it now

I don't think you can really conclude that the Jets moves have been bad. You can obviously argue that they're likely to be bad and that they're clueless, but I don't think there would be too much LOL x if x were a historically well run organization.

lots of reasons to loljets but obviously not for doing the trade now vs draft day

Trading up to 3 is definitely stupid and lolworthy regardless of who did it. If you have a qb you like you don’t trade up to 3 and hope he falls.

What if you really like the #3 QB on your own board?

This is just wrong and really terrible logic along with a faulty premise

Ok, I can be proven wrong. Let’s assume the jets know what they’re doing. Walk me through their thought process.

-we can't beat the pats until brady/belichick retire
-might as well build up karma in the meantime by actively being terrible

The logic for trading up is not very complicated.

"We think there are 3-4 great QB prospects and we don't think any will be available at 6" or any kind of similar valuation thought process
