I haven't listened to that podcast yet; the NFLPA possibly should have attained a higher % of revenue but the common refrain about guaranteed contracts is mistaken imo. (You didn't specify what the NFLPA has done wrong)
NFL players get a % of revenue. Some contract money is guaranteed and the rest is dependent on e.g. being on roster, meeting certain performance incentives. If contracts were fully guaranteed, injured/less able players would be paid relatively more, and still-contributing players would get less money. Guaranteed contracts don't increase % of revenue to players it just gives a relatively higher % to past-it players who in the current model would be cut with a lot of contract money freed up for other players.
