Far more chance they want to drop Ingram at some point despite his relatively solid all around game in rushing and passing.

Adrian Peterson at even 80% of his peak is worth 3.5per as a 10-12 carries plus goal line back

Indoors, great passing game etc - slows the game down and keeps their D off the field not a bad move for the Saints IMO even if they still won't win because their D is awful and they should be in rebuild mode. Shame AP couldn't have found a contender

The problem is that even if you're right, AP's "3.5 per" is like one 30-yard run and 10 runs of 1 yard or less.

this is kind of my thinking. you could have him out there for 1st and 10s + goal line spots. who knows, he might not even be just 80% AP the vikes o-line the last couple of years has been legit WOAT status

also, maybe I'm crazy but I've never been convinced that's he's some sort of inhibiting passing down back. obviously he's not great but having truly terrible QBs (outside of favre) for his entire career has not helped him

The point stands though, even at his prime AP was a very boom-or-bust runner, not a chain-mover. And it's hard to imagine he's still in his prime at 32, after the season he just had. I suppose if anyone can defy time and injury, it's him, but I'm skeptical on the fit here as well as the cost. Seems like a big name picked up to impress the boss man.

Sometimes you show the carrot. Other times you show the stick

Isn't ADP a useless receiver, making this a dumbass sign? Not too good to telegraph run 12 times a game

Meh, if you want to build an impact defense you either need 6-7 pro bowl quality players or GOAT tier coaching (preferably both). Neither are likely to be available in one offseason.

Nor does 3.5 million dent that much.

Obv it's noteworthy that it was an offer he was willing to accept (peering into his lack of worth in the open market), but in a vacuum it seems like a decent contract. Take the team offering it out of the picture.

I wouldn't be surprised if some teams were deterred by anticipation of some PR blowback that doesn't seem to have occurred.

In his prime he was facing 8 and 9 man boxes every down.

The saints dont need an impact defense, they need to not field the borderline WOAT every ****ing season.

Thats basically what the Cowboys have managed to do the last few years when facing having to put on the field a historically bad defence in 2014. And it has worked out ok for them the past few seasons (excluding the season where the QB was Matt Cassell)

Vikings skipping Teddy's 5th year option is a very bad sign for his future

Heart bleeds for the dude - really hope he had decent insurance

Meh, yes & no. Apparently if he starts the year on the PUP list they can roll his contract over a year & he wouldn't be a free agent after this year regardless. & taking a $10m+ option on a guy that's only guaranteed for injury, when he's currently quite injured, doesn't necessarily seem like a great upside risk.

Even if he's healthy enough to resume his career in 2018, if he sits on the bench behind Bradford all year, his value isn't going to be too much higher than $10m/year.

But yeah, I hope for the best for him.
