Julius will be our Jordan Cameron now. Maybe he'll wear the same number.

Local Dolphins radio slappies think it's the move they needed to win the division. "This is the kind of move that winning teams make," is an actual quote from drivetime yesterday. Wat?

Either that or Tannenbaum is just being Tannebaum or perhaps both

Still can't believe that guy is still in Miami
Yeah, Cameron is definitely gone. He was invisible last year. He might even retire.

Tunsil is a natural LT so he's just moving to where he should have been all along.

Tannenbaum sucks but last year was his first offseason with the Dolphins, so I'm not surprised he's still there (also Ross sucks as an owner, which is probably how a guy like Tannenbaum was able to impress him).

I thought the Dolphins seemed like a dysfunctional organization based on how they were portrayed on Ballers.

oh please oh please lets the Jets give the Bears a draft pick for Jay Cutler

The Jets are run by exactly the kind of people I would expect to pick up Cutler, which is even more hilarious considering their roster is garbage and they need a lot more help than a 34-year-old QB.

I mean, they might as well. What exactly are the jets gonna do with a draft pick?

Jets trade second-round pick for Jay Cutler
Maccagnan: "Well, we used that pick on Christian Hackenberg last year, and Cutler is better than him"

Unassailable logic.

Taking cap situation and any possible compensation out of it, who would be better for the Chiefs in 2017? Cutler or Smith?

They've just been so limited offensively in the playoffs with Smith, I think you can argue Cutler is worth a roll of the dice. I think you could argue that about Foles as well though.

Smiff chucked for like 400 vs Indy a couple years ago and 300 vs the Saints with the 9ers.

He isn't Godgers but its not like Cutler is...

b/c that would be tampering and only certain franchises are allowed to do that

There is seriously about a billion (slightly over I think) in combined cap space for 2017. There's going to be a bunch of face melting contracts handed out.

Yeah, it looks like between $1.26b & $1.33b. & yet some teams are still going to manage to cripple themselves for years to come with awful contracts.

This Kirk Cousins could be traded to the 49ers at the NFL combine rumor is kind of interesting.

What do you think fair compensation would be for the opportunity to pay Kirk full market value if you're the 49ers?

Things to note with 49ers:
* Kyle Shanahan used to coach Kirk Cousins.
* 49ers have $82 million of cap space.
* The 49ers have the 2nd pick in every round, plus the 1st pick in the 7th round & a likely 4th round compensatory pick.
* The only QB under contract for the 49ers currently is Colin R. Kaepernick.

Things to note with the Redskins:
* There are people in the Redskins organization who think Colt McCoy would be a fine starter (McCoy is scheduled to make $3.6m in 2017 & in 2018).
* The Redskins are $65m under the cap.
* The Redskins have the 17th pick in each round; plus the 7th pick in the 4th round, 12th pick in the 5th round, & 25th pick in the 6th round.
* There are rumors that if the Redskins trade Cousins, and the Cowboys release Tony Romo, the Redskins would be very interested in signing him.

So a franchise QB, even with the cap, is worth like $50m a season, right? These dudes seem massively underpaid. Why do none of them ever hit FA? Lol Demaurice Smith, lol NFLPA

The rumor is Washington 1st and cousins for niners 1st

Everything about this is a headscratcher and a clear snap call for the 9ers. I guess it works for Washington if they were sold on not giving him a longterm deal from the outset

Yeah, that's a snap call by the 49ers or any team to get a QB less than 30 years old they're happy to pay $20M+.

I would have thought the minimum would be the 49ers 1st in 2017 and a conditional 1st or even two later on. Lol at Washington if they have to swap 1st rounders.

Yes & no. In a vacuum, sure, but since other teams aren't paying their franchise QBs $50m, if you are, you're at a huge competitive disadvantage with the rest of your roster.

Not sure why other players getting more money & the franchise QBs getting less would be an lol NFLPA issue. The less money star QBs get, the more money ~everyone else makes.

The primary lol NFLPA issue is that player salaries should make up a higher % of revenue.

Yeah, I don't think Scot McCloughan thinks the Redskins can be contenders paying Kirk Cousins franchise QB $$$ (& I agree), so if they can spin him into some good assets & use the cap space wisely to fill out a more competitive overall roster, it makes sense.

& the 49ers need a QB & have all the $$$ in the world right now, so it makes sense for them, too.

I would think a more likely trade would look something like:

49ers get:
Cousins
#17 overall

Redskins get:
#2 overall
#66 overall

But who knows?

If the Redskins don't trade him, Cousins is probably going to be an unfranchizable free agent after the season, as it doesn't seem like they're willing to meet his salary demands (which seem to be closer to $24m). So they would let him walk for a supplemental 3rd round pick after paying him a ton for 1 season to be a fringe playoff team again.

so the redskins finish a half game out of the playoffs and think the move is to ship off their young 5000 yard passer so they can start a 30 year old career back-up?

this story is fake news

How can so many teams have these insane amounts of cap space. Surely there's a salary floor in the NFL? And players can't all have one year deals unless there's massive collusion

Not technically. Technically he's under contract for a cap hit of $19m next year, so the 49ers will actually have closer to $100m free once he comes off the books.
