Yes this, the subjective nature of the HOF in all sports makes it fodder for endless debate.
Anyway I remember even local Denver sports honks debating it after TD was forced into retirement and I can't recall a single one of them concluding that he deserved to be in the HOF based on what were, granted, 4 strong seasons of football. On a personal level I'm glad he got in because he's an eminently likeable guy and I'm pretty sure Denver doesn't win either of its 90s SBs without him...but again, there are others more deserving than he, TO being the most glaring example. Edgerrin James and Fred Taylor both deserved consideration at the RB position before TD, imho.
I guess I'll look now unless anyone knows off the top of his head but how many running backs with fewer than 10k career rushing yards are in the Hall since the league went to 16 regular season games? Can't be that many.
