I mean any RB can be effective for like 7-8 games when they are at the freshest they've ever been in their career and in a good offense.

In super important trade detail news, Justin Coleman was traded to the Seahawks for the Eagles' 2018 7th rounder.

Here's a guy who anyone with eyes should have realized had almost no shot of being an effective starter. The chance wasn't zero, but it was pretty slim. And in pursuit of that chance, teams will pay him ~$40 million (and he's probably not done yet).

Starting QBs are so rare and so valuable, that flushing that much money down the drain actually makes sense to a lot of teams.

Your memory is short. He was a sought after FA and Texans only outbid Broncos and their vaunted GM and QB hero John Elway by $2m per year and there were at least some people who felt Broncos should have kept him in the line up for the playoff run two years ago

Bill O Brien and his QB Whisperer reputation has got off scot free here too - Brock seemed to be a decent QB prospect under Kubiak at the Broncos and fell apart as soon as BOB got his hands on him

Elway's gotten a lot of mileage out of getting to pick von miller in a no brainer draft and a rang out of it. His drafting record is just okay ignoring that by NFL team standards. His second rounders have ended up Jets like.

Nah, I remember just fine. He always looked mediocre at best. Even in Denver taking over for a Payton Manning that literally couldn't throw more than 15 yds down the field.

He was a prospect. Just a huge longshot.

Saw a lot of stuff saying Forte was on the roster bubble but looks like he won't be cut now?

Thought he looked pretty good last year considering how bad the Jets offense was and he is a jack of all trades type player. Definitely think he could help a contender if he lands in the right spot.

He still could have done it, but claiming "actual evidence" is lol.

Oops, got new paged & this has been discussed more since. I stand by it, though.
You stand by a post that is complete bull****? See I live in this world where three things can exist.

1. The NFL can suck at handling these types of situations.
2. That girl can be full of **** on so many levels and is a looney tune.
3. Zeke put his hands on her in a threatening manner.

Spare me there's no evidence though. Kind of sad if anyone thinks those photos came from a bar fight as Zeke claimed. I thought SE was smarter than that.

Was looking back on last year's off-season thread for opinions on Osweiler. Impressed myself by how right I was on most things.

I think I'm probably wrong about the being able to overcome overpaying a mediocre QB thing, though...the Falcons had $25m of dead cap last year & almost won the SB.

I live in the world where that could be true, too. But I'm not foolish enough to pretend I KNOW that's what happened.

I haven't looked deep at the case but it's easy for me to believe she's crazy, lying, and conspiring with her friends to extort him and that he actually did physically hurt her.

Oh for sure this doesn't need to be so black and white. It can be grey. He could have hurt her while defending himself from a crazy situation where she starts throwing anything she can get her hands on. There are so many permutations that aren't just coldcocking her in an elevator. But all this stuff opens the door for way way more fraud from fraudsters targeting young NFL players. You don't even have to beat the legal system to get yours. You may just need to pass an NFL sniff test in an area of sensitivity to the public.

And what is also true is a lot of NFL players ARE scumbags who DO need suspensions. But somehow you need due process. Let the law be that due process. Suspend after.

If the law has shown us anything, it's that athletes and rich people get super favorable treatment. Technically Greg Hardy is not guilty in the eyes of the law, but I don't think anyone would argue he didn't actually beat his gf and deserve a suspension (and if he had just paid her off earlier so she didn't testify in his first trial, he never would have gotten the initial guilt conviction).

Sure, NFL process is not the best, but the idea they should just rely on law enforcement to adjudicate this stuff is not the solution.

On the merits of this, while the girl has huge credibility issues, so does Elliot. His story about how she always has bruises and so he didn't notice them anymore cause she fell a lot, seems a pretty big red flag that something wrong was going on.

Lol. You know the Columbus DA didn’t believe those photos because they could not verify their providence.

The NFL had to go through a lot of machinations to try and give them credibility.

I would add I think it is fairly uncommon, but not impossible, for these sorts of situations to involve a an actual stalker. Not to mention her lining up ezekiel Elliot sex video.

These cases are always tough because you absolutely want women who were abused to be protected and vindicated. On the other hand domestic abuse has become weaponized as a tool of revenge by some women. So it is impossible to just automatically take one side or the other.

The pictures are what they are. I think the pictures absent any other evidence or in this case evidence lacking any credibility is not enough to reach such conclusions.

The real issue is not ultimstely what happened but how horribly the nfl and goodell handled this entire 13 plus month investigation. The fact that the only nfl employee who talked to the alleged victim didn’t believe her should have had more significant weight.

The bottom line is the nfl has screwed the pooch on domestic abuse issues for a long time and they find new ways to mess up with every new case. I think Elliot’s team will be able to tie this up in federal court so even with a suspension it will not happen this season.

Back to the pictures count me as a person, who even though is strongly against domestic violence in a significant way I can’t just accept photographs as basically the totality of evidence. Certainly Elliot did some dumb things as it relates to this relationship especially given the nfl report paints an alleged victim who was not very stable, but I still expect a threshold of evidence before punishing someone.

I want every domestic abuser punished when it can be proven. Preferably by the courts in question. However given how the nfl continues to screw up every single case they have no credibility and get no benefit of the doubt when it comes to their motivations and competency.

I would add that the primary reason courts don’t pursue domestic abuse charges is because victims won’t testify. Although some jurisdictions will prosecute even those cases even if they are nearly impossible to win.

I haven’t seen anything to indicate she wasn’t willing to testify in court or refused to talk to the police so the fact that they presented no charges is very significant given how such matters are usually handled.

Inb4 phillip dorsett becomes a world beater.

Good move for Brissett too as he goes from no.3 to a no.2 where the starter probably aint making week 1. (Lol if they go with Tolzien, although probably will as he's more "ready" for week 1)
