edit, posted before seeing the above: i guess he was a top rated kicker, how come? 50% from 40+..

can he kick it super far or sth
He won some college kicking award, but he wasn't really even a good kicker; he just started as a true freshman and scored a lot of points because he was on a good offense.

I'm sure the thought process was something like "We need a kicker and he's the best."

the thought process was something like the pick was free since it came from a trade

They had a "1st round grade" on him, seemingly heavily due to "never missed a college extra point (198/198)." This same GM boldly claimed over a 2 year stretch they came away with 7 first rounders.

1 - Jaemis Winston
34 - Donvon Smith
61 - Ali Marpet
124 - Kwon Alexander

Marpet is pretty good and Kwon is well known but prob overrated. IDK about Smith.

The next season:

11 - Vernon Hargreaves
39 - Noah Spence
59 - Robert Aguayo

Why anyone has a first-round grade on a weak legged kicker with poor accuracy is beyond me

I did think Marpet and Alexander were pretty good players though. Spence probably taken at about the right spot.

My favorite of their guys this year is Chris Godwin. Checks all the boxes for me. He'll be a stud eventually.

The bucs dumped Connor Barth for Aguayo.

The bears claimed Aguayo, their kicker is Connor Barth.

Aguayo has spent his whole career kicking in no wind easy to kick warm stadiums and doesn't have a strong leg; Soldier Field is a cold windy ****topolis of a field stadium.

I'm pretty sure Zane Gonzalez was a much better prospect than Aguayo and he got picked in the 7th this year.

Smith is mixed, he's one of those tackles who one play mauls the **** out of a guy and the next gets beat for a sack.

Aguayo had an extremely high FG% for college (3rd in NCAA history); it's just when you delved into the specifics, they were almost all easy kicks and anything that literally wasn't florida weather (which is a lot easier for kickers) he was just meh and he doesn't have a strong leg. Not bothering with that and with the media hype of greatest kicker ever and NFL teams got fooled (it wasn't just the bucs, there were many teams that were gonna take him in rd3 at least). We forget that most owners are lol olds who watch TV/read media all day. and well, who does research on kickers? That's not gonna get you the GM job on the resume.

Glad the Bills are setting up Tyrod for success. 50 year old Boldin and some spare Eagles receiver who is hurt already.

So glad he isn't on the team I like. He is never going to win a Super Bowl.
