plus citing a poll as a reason ratings dropped is hugely LOL

Kaep polls high because a segment of Americans feel a duty to express disapproval whenever his name is mentioned, even if he's not really a cause of them watching less football.

The pollster said it asked more than 9,200 people who attended either one football, basketball or hockey game whether they tuned into fewer games and why. Twenty-six percent of those who watched fewer games last season said that national anthem protests, some of which were led by Colin Kaepernick, were the reason.

and the ratings for everything are down, it's mostly bc of cord cutting, but also splintering of the audience

all this "poll" says is that 26% of ppl want to blame Kraep, which is lower than i would have expected really

actually it doesnt seem like "everything is down"

J.D. Power noted that only 12 percent of the fans it surveyed said they watched fewer NFL games last season, with 27 percent of people saying they watched more and 62 percent saying they watched just as much as they had the season before.
so the overall conclusion of this poll is that PEOPLE WATCHED MORE FOOTBALL and of those that didnt just a quarter were because of kap, yet somehow this leads to a headline that people stopped watching football because of kapernick.

and if ratings actually are down then maybe your poll of people which tells you they are up indicates your poll is crap

I agree on the pathetic but I think it's just a cover anyway. Most NFL owners are old white racists and they probably have handed down orders to their GMs never sign Kaep. Hell, maybe Goodell himself has; it wouldn't surprise me.

Nobody really knows, although every single sycophantic NFL journalists has come up with the same litany of bull**** excuses as to why Kaep isn't signed-- "He wants too much money! He wants a starting job! He's not even that good!"

The Ravens literally just signed a guy who threw two passes in college.

Also probably not a coincidence the NFL dropped this survey right as it sounded like the Ravens had some interest in signing Kaepernick.

NFL pledges to donate $30 million to CTE study, NFL gets results of initial CTE study and doesn't approve (110 out of 111 former NFL players that donated their brains to science showed signs of CTE), NFL stops partnership with CTE study after spending only $14 million and doesn't plan to pay the additional $16 million they pledged.

ya obv the owners don't want him, and that's probably driving a lot of this.

if he even gets turned away by Paul Allen / Pistol Pete, who have an opportunity to give an FU to the 29ers (prob about as good a spot he could ask for, and their reasoning was super lame), that's kind of a sign he's legit getting blackballed.

Dave Zirin has been doing a lot of Kraep spokesperson work this summer, i haven't followed the story intently, so not sure if he's gotten into the specifics or not. thought he said somewhere along the way that Kraep isn't really making any demands, he just wants a shot to be an NFL QB, and will curtail his protests going forward.

can always try the CFL i guess...

and ya, Baltimore passing on Kraep for some guy who threw 2 passes in college and quit football to be a realtor, given that the Michigan Harblah is one of the only ppl in the game willing to defend him, is another bad blackball look

it'll be fairly ridiculous if nobody picks him up, but hey, that's concussionball

I head a guy (the host) on Fox Sports radio say he's not even sure Kap wants to be a NFL qb. "You know why I say that? NO ONE HAS HEARD FROM HIM!"

He also said he needs a haircut, "Even Michael Vick says that."

The arena guy is getting signed to be an arm in camp. I can't imagine he'll ever see the field in a preseason game. Apparently he finished his college career with -1 passing yards.

It sure seems like most of the teams have zero interest in Kaep at any price. I haven't heard of anything regarding what he might have been offered or asking for or even if any discussion has reached that point or if there's been any discussion at all.

So wait, you guys think there's absolutely nothing to teams not wanting a guy who is going to be an enormous distraction as their backup QB? Like, either you're willing to sign him or you're definitely just a racist? That's seriously where we're at?

RG3 hasn't been signed either, why don't we care about that? I mean we all know why, but it is amusing to watch people try to craft the narrative to explain why it's not racist to ignore conservative RG3 but an unspeakable travesty that Kaep remains unsigned.

I don't agree at all, he absolutely will be a distraction. I'm not saying what he stands for isn't a worthy cause, but in context of a team trying to win the most football games, having your backup QB be your most popular and talked about player is like the definition of a distraction. Every day you're going to be peppered with questions about him. Will he kneel for the anthem etc. Then you factor in that his presence could lead to a semi-divided locker room (maybe some guys aren't trying to be social justice pioneers? they just wanna keep their head down and play football). There's so many factors you have to consider. I don't think it's as easy as- Kaepernick is the xth best QB in the world, if x>96 then he should be signed.

Again, and it's ridiculous that I need to caveat this multiple times, I think what CK did was good, it was necessary to raise awareness and create a conversation that needed to be had. And if a team saw him as a starter level quality player I think he would absolutely be on a team by now. I don't think he's been like banished from the league. I think he's seen as a fringe back-up on most teams. My main gripe is just immediately jumping to "if he's not signed then everyone must be racist" when you couldn't possibly know that for sure.

Of course there are likely racist owners & GM's who won't touch him for that reason only. I think ultimately it's a disservice to the overall conversation to just make everything black & white when it's certainly more nuanced than that.

the distraction thing is absolutely a red herring, and there's a million ways to work around it
pretty sure Kraep has already agreed to if someone will sign him
