Yawn. 39, then. Anyway, my post was relevant to Rodgers because Brady is the beginning of top QBs playing at a high level into their 40s. Big Ben might retire early but Flacco, Dalton, Stafford, etc. aren't going anywhere. They're all healthy and if Brady can play well at 40, 41 or later he's going to set the precedent for these guys to keep going unless they have a plaguing thing like Romo has or a serious issue that ended Peyton's career.

Why'd you change topics when you started off talking about top QBs playing at a high level?

Only Favre, Moon and Testeverde have even made it through a season healthy at age 40, but you think Brady playing great at 39 means that Flacco, Dalton and Stafford can play in to their 40s? That is quite a logical leap.

Brady is an anomaly. He ain't setting the precedent, especially for turds like Flacco and Dalton.

I shouldn't have said high level. What I really meant was "guys with big contracts that teams feel sucked into because they are considered franchise QBs." My point was that they aren't going away, their longevity is going to be a new thing and challenge teams from a building standpoint. Drew is on board with playing as long as humanly possible as well. Brady is the oldest. If he plays at a high level this year or beyond, it's going to start a wave of encouragement for established guys to keep it going. And the next generation will be thinking 45 is the new 35, especially with the cap and contracts flying out of control.

For the record, the Pats are in deep **** with Jimmy G negotiations coming as long as Brady is Brady. My guess is BB doesn't have a set plan yet but a series of dossiers covering everything from Brady going transgender to global warming syphoning off Foxboro from the map. He just needs to grab the relevant one.

Neither team considers their turds to be turds, and the contracts back that up. Stafford is a turd but when that new contract comes out you can be damn well sure the Lions are hoping for another decade plus of him.

The point is simple: if Brady performs into his 40s the standard is reset and contracts will reflect that.

Flacco is lucky to have that albatross contract, he'll be luckier if he still has a starting job at any point past the minute it's financially viable for the Ravens to cut him

To be fair he'll be 35 when that happens.

Excuses? In 2016 he had a higher comp%, y/a, ay/a, ny/a, any/a, QBR, and lower int% and sk% than Jameis despite his best target being old Delanie Walker (or Rishard Matthews lol) as opposed to having Mike Evans. Also obviously possesses far superior mobility. It's not an excuse to mention that Mariota's objectively superior stats have come a worse supporting cast and one of the worst coaches in the NFL. These are facts that help contextualize the comparison. I also find it strange that Winston is viewed as the more classic dropback QB. Mariota has a much better presence in the pocket, better footwork and a quicker release. Winston has super happy feet and holds on to the ball way too long to go along with worse accuracy.

Rodgers
Luck
Wilson
Mariota
Carr
Winston

imo

Yes...so now he has decent WR so he should be able to win football games?

Was just my way of posting the Decker news in the thread.

They didn't win games last year? Winning 9 games with that supporting cast+coaching staff was a minor miracle. What exactly are you expecting from him?

agree with this. Brady seems to be a complete maniac when it comes to staying in shape, which plays a large role in longevity. Brady claims he is faster now than when he was in college.

all that said, when the end comes, it normally comes quickly and it gets ugly. Peyton was great halfway through 2014, and by 2015 he was done.

They had an easy schedule & only won week 17 because the Texans took the week off, & Mariota didn't play in that game anyway. In one of their wins he was 6-20 for 88 yards.

I didn't even give an order I don't think? Not even sure what we're arguing about.

But if you're going to try to back me into a corner, the Titans had the #1 offensive line last year per PFF. They had the 3rd most prolific running game & 25th most prolific passing game.

That's a pretty pretty good situation to play efficient football as a QB. & now he has actual WRs who should be able to create some separation, so with the exception of lolMularkey, he's in a really good situation this year, which was my actual point - that we shouldn't have to correct for lack of weapons when judging him against everyone else after this year.

I think around 6.5 or 7. They definitely went way over & had a successful season.

my favorite dark horse team: HOU. They'll be adding JJ Watt to an already great defense and could replace an awful QB with Watson. Watson being a league average QB (granted, that's asking a lot) would be a massive upgrade for them

Mariota absolutely did not have a worse supporting cast.

Ten Oline >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> TB Oline
Mariota had 100+ less attempts than Winston
TEN had 2180 yards rushing @4.6 yards per
TB had 1616 yards rushing @ 3.6 yards per
