I just don't see a universe where "That's Mitchell Trubinsky lifting the Lombardi trophy."

This is such a ldo Garrett pick.

Only two qbs I can see shipping are mahomes and Kizer and both are enormous long shots.

People underrate Bradford as a prospect. Dude checked all the boxes and played at a successful "winning" college program.

Stafford, luck, Bradford, Mariotta/Winston all ldo #1 picks.

Newton had A LOT of questions coming out of college.

He had several off field questions and didn't run a progression based offense.

You also know whats crazy?

Gingerman has like 50% more career dyar than cam.

#1 question being "is he white enough to play qb in the NFL?"

I take it you are implying "can he throw a football?" was not technically a question since everyone knew the answer is "lol no"

As far as Bradford goes, I thought at the time that Suh was the right choice, that's who I took at #1 in the 2p2 mock draft, and he's been good enough that I'm comfortable sticking with it.

Newton is one that in hindsight should've been easier because even with only one year of FBS starting experience (obviously Blinn College isn't much competition, but he did play and wasn't just riding the bench), the level of talent it took to do what he did is absurd. He and Nick Fairley were basically the only viable NFLers on that Auburn team, and they won the national championship basically by Cam carrying them on their backs, completing 66% of his passes to nobodies, and also running for almost 1,500 yards and a bunch of touchdowns.

Then again, I thought Bortles would be better than he was for similar reasons. Sure his mechanics were bad, but he took that UCF team to the #6 ranking, a Fiesta Bowl victory over Baylor, and completed two-thirds of his passes while doing so. I thought that was indicative of more talent than he's shown in the NFL.

Yeah, I'm interested in that.

Anyway, re your other questions, Long was a very good prospect but not good enough not to take a QB if you believed in Ryan; Stafford was a solid prospect if not exactly a can't-miss prospect, but I don't recall any sure studs at other positions. (And looking back, that run from 2-7 is... rough.)

There were legit concerns about Bradford's shoulder and whether it had healed up or would ever heal up if I recall. Also, he led the greatest college offense of all time until they ran into a stone wall vs Florida in the title game. That was a red flag, too because they hadn't played any good defenses in the lol Big 12 and when he finally goes up against one the team scores like 45 points less than their average coming in.

PFF mock draft

Top 10 1st round
1. Garrett- stud
2. Latimore - Very good not top 3 CB in this draft why this early the draft is loaded at cb.
3. Allen- lol how are those shoulders
4. Foster- lol he went to Alabama ok lol
5. Corey Davis - don't know what's under the hood how can you draft him thus early.
6. Trubisky- makes sense
7. Hooker- he's good but injury concerns only started 1 year
8. Barnett- ok i guess
9. Williams- lol not this early
10. Watson- lol no

Lol lots of busts in that top ten. They have Dalvin Cook going in the 1st which is hard to see happening after one of the worst combines ever.

Think Lattimore is pretty clearly CB1

For me it's

1. Obi>>>2. Kevin King

Then a group I don't see much of a difference between

Marshon Latimore, Adoree' Jackson, Tre'Davious White, and Desmond King.

Probably take Jackson over the other guys because he doubles as a returner but you're splitting hairs with all of them. They are all good/great prospects.

My list is very different. And I still list Obi as a safety though he might move.

Marshon Lattimore

Marlon Humphrey
Gareon Conley
(Sidney Jones if he hadn't torn his Achilles)

Teez Tabor
Fabian Moreau
Cordrea Tankersley
Quincy Wilson
TreDavious White
Kevin King
Chidobe Awuzie

Adoree' Jackson
Ahkello Witherspoon
Cameron Sutton
Desmond King
Sidney Jones (with Achilles tear)

Shaquill Griffin
Corn Elder
Rasul Douglas
Jalen Myrick

Admittedly King might deserve to go higher. I've seen some nice things from him on film, but need to see more. If his film is really good, then he could even be a first-round value.

There's a ridiculous group of athletes in this cornerback class: Lattimore, Humphrey, Conley, Moreau, King, Awuzie, Witherspoon, Griffin, Myrick.

Myrick is a starter in this league. Not a big fan of Marlin Humphrey.

You would lose money taking that bet. Browns fans will have a revolt if the Browns don't take him at #1. Media in Cleveland would completely trash the Browns if they traded down. Hue Jackson came out last week indicating they aren't trading the pick. What they do with the 12th pick is an open question. They are staying at 1 and they are picking Garrett.

I'm high on Conley...wouldn't be surprised to see him go top ten...he'll be better than Lattimore.

I was just watching Mooch with Kizer and Trubisky...both seem like good kids. But Trubisky has NEVER been under center?? Not in college, not in high school? that's a red flag, no?

Not really, NFL teams run shotgun on something like 60% of plays now.

Conley sure looks like he has the talent, and I'm starting to buy into the idea that Urban Meyer gets those Ohio State dudes NFL-ready (just look at last year's class, and how quickly Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott, Taylor Decker, and Michael Thomas came in and performed like veterans).

Conely had a great combine. He's a starter in this league. He is not a #1 CB though. He's not physical enough. After the combine he looked like a 1st round CB. Some teams will go back and look at the tape and see he doesn't fight for balls well and gets pushed around a bit. Shows no real aggression. Low tackle numbers. 8 PD all year when Ohio St had this supposed all world CB on the other side of the field from him? You know they went at him.

I'd be shocked if he went in the top 10. Mildly surprised if he went in the first round but we all know some of these teams are run pretty bad. Early day two pick would be my guess. I'd rather have Myrick. Give up some size but get more aggression.

What's going to save him is he's such a good athlete. He can run with anybody. He'll just end up being a nickel CB if he can't handle #2 WR.

Another thing working against Conley, we all keep saying it, is this draft is loaded at CB. So teams in the first are going to be looking at Conley and they should have like 5-6 prospects graded similarly. Going to push him down unless a team just fell in love with him.

I'm seeing Carl Lawson ranked way to high. I have no idea how anybody can say Carl Lawson is a better prospect Jordan Willis.

Jordan Willis is longer, faster, and more explosive than Carl Lawson. Jordan Willis also has more tackles, more tackles for a loss, and more sacks than Carl Lawson. He didn't just do this against inferior competition either. He was great against good teams. Jordan Willis also has a bigger longer frame with longer arms that he can put 10-15 more pounds on.

Carl Lawson is stronger and played for Auburn. That's it.

good quarterbacks all share traits many of which you won't know for several years as a professional, but draft one of those.

fwiw

lombardi was fired as senior personnel executive about a week after the raiders drafted...

Jarmarcus Russell

he wrote the same article in 2011 draft for nfl
http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/09000...itter_features

who did he like? Gabbert and Mallett. lol

Top 10 looks below average on first glance but who knows. DB draft looks good at least.

Kevin King and Obi kinda sketch me out at this point after exploding at the combine and shooting up boards because of how they look in track events.
