If he tries to make it as a runner he'll end up like RGIII, broken and out of the league by the end of his rookie deal.

And because he runs, which is apparently bad, unless he's white, then it shows his superior athleticism for a pocket passer.

How quickly people forget the clear and obvious draft night discrimination against Mike Vick, JaMarcus Russell, Cam Newton, and Jameis Winston.

I realize you're trolling here a bit but Deshaun Watson was picked 12th overall just last draft.

Every black QB has to deal with some ridic bull**** criticism every year in the draft. Teddy, Watson, Lamar for sure is going to and that's just recent draft memory. Josh Allen's stats are bad and all GM's do is make excuses for it. Winston def had some but some of that was self inflicted. I can't remember Newton, Russell was just bad but he could flick his wrist and throw a football 70 yards it just wasn't to his own team. Only Al would've taken him there obviously. I do not remember vick other than being dynamic. Dogs hurt his career more than running did.

That said, if I'm a giants exec, i'm totally trying to get the browns to take Josh Allen.

It's weird, you'd think poker players, gamblers, and investors would understand the idea that long-term trends and patterns would outweigh individual examples that defy that trend, but for some reason they suddenly forget that when it comes to race.

Not as excited about Lamar as I was about Deshaun who I always thought should have been a sprint to the podium 1st overall pick. I'd pick Rosen ahead of him this year and put him even with Mayfield as 2nd best QB coming out. I think Mayfield is more likely to be successful but Lamar is a potential home run.

Ok, so the Steelers need the best ILB available at 28. Who’s going to be there? They should be desperately trying to move up to get Roquan right?

They don’t though

Trading up for a ILB seems smart.

Especially since there's a non-zero chance they'd end up being a two down player with the D they run.

I pretty much have Rosen and Jackson even now with Mayfield a bit behind. I don't know how I'd compare him to Deshaun because of the differences in their styles and where they make mistakes. But Jackson carried an offense with little NFL talent around him.

Vick is an interesting comparison because Jackson was a far more productive QB in college as both a runner and a passer. He can still improve as a passer but he was far more refined than Vick was. But Vick could throw the ball 70 yards from his knees or whatever and that's what scouts care about.

I don't know that a team should ever desperately try to trade up for a linebacker. But Smith would be a great choice if he's available at 28 (I'd be mad if the Saints didn't select him at 27, though, unless Jackson or Mayfield was somehow available). Malik Jefferson of Texas is another name I've heard floated as a late-first possibility. There's a third guy I think I've been hearing about but I forget who. It's still early in the process.

I meant specific traits knocking Cam outside of the Florida laptop incident. Not the overlove for the other guys some of them for no logical reason at all part.

Look for Nolan Nawrocki's scouting report sometime.

Vick was a better runner than Jackson I think though, at least definitely faster vs the competition than Jackson is now. Vick met the height threshold and Jackson is barely tall enough, that does matter as does coaching fit, there's still too many rigid systems out there that won't want to touch Jackson with a ten foot pole because they won't change the system to fit his skillset. Vick definitely had a great arm. There's a throw in philly vs washington on MNF where he chucks it 70 yards to DeSean Jackson who took the rest for a TD. The only guy in the league who could make that throw vs the only WR in the league at the time who could've gotten to it.

That said instead of merely making those points; we're gonna get **** like he can't read defenses or ran a pro style offense (I think he actually kinda did both of those things?) where Jared Goff ran air raid and that wasn't a narrative that got pushed.

Eric Crouch is the only white QB I can think of who got pushed elsewhere right away. Crouch did get a cup of coffee at QB later in the CFL but couldn't stick at any position. One guy vs a ton of examples doesn't make it even though.

Vick is definitely shorter than Lamar, even accounting for exaggeration in player profiles Vick is listed at 6'0" and Lamar is listed at 6'3"

Vick probably has more raw speed and definitely the bigger arm but he wasn't nearly as productive. Scouts love eye-popping traits in their QBs whether or not those QBs actually succeed at important aspects of playing QB.

wow I totally thought other way around on those two heights, shows how vulnerable I am to bias, jeez.

Many scouts are usually 25 year olds making 25k/year; it's a job that people think they want but really don't. Also, gl getting out of line on opinion and keeping your job like all the other ones in the world.

Vick was the fastest guy on the field for the first several years of his NFL career. Lamar doesn't look close to that type of speed but he's still a ridiculously dangerous runner at the QB position. Fastest QB in the league is still a nice trait and Lamar should have that title locked up for a while.

Yeah, Vick had speed in the 4.3s, right? I'd be surprised if Lamar ran that fast. That said, compare their college careers:

Michael Vick

Lamar Jackson

Let's have some fun with why Josh Allen would be a massive bust.

If you like a prospect, you consider this kind of talk leadership. If you don't, it's arrogance.

Let's put it in context...

...Wait, really? Yep.

Vick was as fast or faster than anyone in the NFL even as an old man. He destroyed Shady a few years back when Shady was 25 and Vick was almost 33.

Josh Allen reminds me of the lower conference Jake locker. I only like guys from lesser conferences that owned it and josh Allen clearly hasn’t.
