I'm confused as to why we can't use the records/results of teams coaches have been involved with in order to make arguments about their possible future success with different teams/roles.

Peter King (lol) hyped up Schiano for awhile saying that his contacts in the league love him as a future NFL coach and that Belichick is a big fan of his.

Time will tell I suppose.

can you honestly tell me you know the first thing about Chuck Pagano, other than he used to be the DC of the Ravens? did you know what he looked like before today? what he's good at? bad at? or if he's better suited to be a HC than, say, Caldwell was? (back when he was hired, not looking backwards)

I know he was the DC of a great defense, but have no idea how much of that is due to him, vs due to

- his HC
- Rex Ryan (or some previous DC's system)
- tons of great players, including 3 HOF players
- assistants working for him
- some other **** I can't even think of

and then, how all of this compares to other people?

there is plenty of stuff we can debate and discuss with some degree of intelligence.

how Bill O'Brien will do as Penn St. coach isn't one of them, since none of us really have the first clue about him. except that he screams at Brady sometimes.

That's my point though, we do know something about basically everyone. Especially a college coach who has been a head coach for a decade.

as someone who sat and watched his team get ****ed miserably for a decade because of the decisions of a man who was hired as coach when he was DC of the ravens, i say **** the DC's of the ravens. rex ryan is a hack loudmouth, nolan was the WOAT, the bar is set awfully low for pagano

i mean seriously, the ravens d is so ****ing loaded that i dont' get how these guys are held in such high regard. mebbe i'm missing something

So that's why before schiano they weren't just bad but historically pathetic. This is just wrong and anyone from the area will tell you that very few recruits from jersey wanted to go there in the 90's.

...I'm not sure why you seem to think you know anything about Rutgers

before Schiano got there it was a big deal for them to win a game

I never said that it used to happen that way in the past. In fact, it didn't. Schiano vowed to make Jersey kids want to come to Rutgers and he accomplished that goal. But that has almost everything to do with recruiting. That's not a skill that is going to be helpful at the next level.

I know plenty about the football program and the recruiting in NJ. Michigan tried to hire Schiano and Michigan has competed for numerous NJ recruits.

I doubt it was much of a competition. Go to highly reputed football organization that has history of producing good NFL players...or go to a school with ****ty facilities in a crappy surrounding area where the best quality is that its less than an hr from NYC

I'm not even really defending Schiano. Anyone that thinks Rutgers has had even average talent over the last decade needs to be corrected. Sure it might seem otherwise, they've had Ray Rice, Kenny Britt, Devin McCourty all drafted high...but thats all recent, Schiano's work. Before Britt, they had never even yielded a 1st round pick

Except Michigan lost >50% of those battles. I'm not saying that Rutgers is in an ideal spot, but it's far from terrible. NJ has some talent and Schiano has gotten Rutgers to the point where those kids look at Rutgers. He's done a great job doing that, but that has no bearing on whether he'll be a good NFL coach.

And all three of those guys were 4 stars. I think the only 5 stars Schiano recruited were Anthony Davis and Chad Dodd. Which is still incredibly with all things considered. I absolutely hate Schiano outside of his ability to recruit, he seems to do **** with a lot of the talent though.

I see our best players year in and year out go far far away...even picking Boise St. over Rutgers. Hell the team I coach has a definite 3star+ athlete and Rutgers has yet to contact him despite BC, UCONN, Syracuse, NC State, amongst others. Its insane.
